An early and frosty ride. Not been to Hemlock trails for a while and they have acquired a lot more little gaps and kickers to keep you on your toes. Great fun.

I trust last night counts as the weekend.

A nice “climby” hack out around Rossendale with a mix of road, trails and dark nasty tunnels.

The last month has been mainly winch and plummet, so went out for easy miles last night, 1 front wheel wash out and now my right is now a lot bigger than it used to be 🤦‍♂️

Ours started yesterday with a meet to deliver the S Works Enduro to its new owner.
Managed to get in a local ride after fitting the warranty replacement seat post

[img] [/img]

Got up early this morning and it was proper brass monkey weather. It had rained overnight followed by a harsh frost.
The ride never got above freezing and we had a mixture of sun, sleet and hail.

No pics but I've just spent the day introducing more youngsters to the delights of MTB. We took a group of BB's around - a morning of coaching and skills, an afternoon of scooting around.

Great to see so many families and folk out.

No pics, didn’t stop, super dry and fast at the moment. Making the most of it before the bracken comes. Managed to sneak a top ten as well..

Was snowing when I left the house! Trails are bone dry and running fast mind

I give up on trying to post photos on this forum though

Did cut gate with my dad on his 70th birthday. Forecast promised sun, we got snow. My mech caught a rock and something is bent, but luckily it was rideable. Great day out.

Was snowing when I left the house!

I put suncream on at 10am, and I'm sunburnt. But we rode through falling snow and were breaking ice on puddles!

Yet another picture of my bloody bike in Calderdale! haven't been out of the valley since a tweed valley trip with my son in August.
I'm enjoying every ride massively though. This morning was surprisingly warm over Stoodley and White Holme way. This afternoons walk finished in light snow and a cutting wind.

Lovely pics as always. Think we three boys are targeting a ride on Monday (school hols) so we've got time to finish a bit of bike fixing and have some whole family time tomorrow.

Some nice pics as per usual, hopefully out tomorrow but it might be road bike. Spent the last couple of days fettling in the sun/snow. Had a head on pile up with a daydreaming teen on the C2C near Beamish on Wednesday on the CX bike, I've got bruises from here to there.
So I decided to spend my time stripping and cleaning the bike, new brake pads, indexing, lubing all the usual stuff. Sadly looks like my nice new Hunt gravel rims need a bit of truing at the front, a Trek HT wasn't the softest landing I had that day. So, back on the road tomorrow and then MTB during the week. Meantime, glass of red.

I wonder how many times that hut/shelter at Ladybower has been a photo subject.

Here is my bike in it a couple of years ago, shortly after finding out just how good the new (at the time) bike was going down techy ish descents.

And as per the subject, here it is yesterday on a slightly less demanding, but still fun, Cannock trail.

Not really felt the love for cycling in general over the last 12 months although it's coming back now we can venture out a bit further once again.

Proper 3 season ride today. Nice and sunny to start, then snow, bit of rain and wind, then back to sunny again.  Ace 🙂

After a lot of talking to myself, and mental prep and I decided to take the bike out on my own a bit further a field that just the 3 mile loop from my door. First time in 4.5 months since getting COVID! Really enjoyed it (despite the snow just as I left!) - bike was great and I rode pretty well. 10.5 miles!!! A lot of nervous energy made it hard to keep the HR down, so today is definitely going to have to be rest day.

Sounds like a good result to me alongside rest of the post 🙂

Not quite in the same league but been burned out with work and lack of energy /motivation since Xmas and last weekend was my first decent trip out for quite a while, little ride as a step back to better things.

Thanks both. Definitely can feel I’ve been on the mountain bike - body generally aches (there are bits of my upper body I clearly haven’t used for a while - haha) and I’m a bit tired! But I’m not in a fatigued heap - I’ll take that 🙂

@garage-dweller hope you enjoyed your ride. Totally been there re work burn out in the past. Just a little bit of biking can make a huge difference. Well done getting motivated to get out.

The second ride of the weekend began in winter and ended in spring.

Rossendale is often described as having a micro climate, never was that more true today.

From the head of the valley The Tough of Bowland and the Three Peaks in the dales evidenced only a dusting, while we had a bucket load.

Carting through the snow on the Camino was a joy.

Popped over to the other side of Bristol to Bourton Combe. Bit greasy on the roots / steeper bits after overnight rain but still glad I went!

Just me out riding so no action shots I’m afraid....

Quick grind and plummet off the local hill after opening the curtains to nearly an inch of snow looking south this morning (and virtually nothing to the north). Bit brutal at times with sleet and hail.

No pics, although am repeatedly blown away by how awesome my new riding terrain is around and about Braco, Crieff and Comrie. Either too good to stop and photograph, or smartphone wouldn't do it justice.

Today's ride consisted mainly of long gravel climbs and super techy singletrack descents, one of which was a beautifully built trail basically consisting of a pump track made out of roots. Not ideal on a gravelised Superfly with the saddle up my arse!

After 3hrs on the Turbo yesterday, I started with stiff legs but enjoyed an incredibly dry and lovely ride...

Managed to find a couple of hours this afternoon as the lambing shed is slowly emptying. A couple of us did our normal loop from here over the hill to a trail we have build in the forest and then back down a trail to finish back at the farm 🙂
Nice couple of hours away and trails running so sweet. Dry as a bone, dust flying, and no bracken. Lush

I can see my house from here. Dropping in....

Never get tired of living here.

Yep, 3hr MTB Marathon SIM on the turbo yesterday, 3hr MTB Marathon SIM with my actual setup outdoors today. Currently enjoying the benefit of the 5000cal deficit it brought with it.

@montylikesbeer I think your pics need drug testing or something! That's a ridiculous change of weather from your Friday pics.

Some cracking shots again, the weather has been so dry recently the trails are really looking good. I had the road bike out today for a quick 20miler, nothing much to shout about but I did end up coming back through town via one of my favourite pubs. Looking forward to a beer there when it opens again but I'm not sure I'll be sitting out in the snow.

A trundle round Coniston. Again. Hoping that the giant looming evil maelstrom of hail passed to the south. Which it did!

The snow started last night and didn’t stop, it was crazy.

I got up this morning at 08.30 and the thaw had just started.

On the hack up through Weir I stopped for a coffee at Anna’s and a local farmer said that the latest he had sen snow like today was previously 14th April a few years ago.

Getting out in the Camino is great fun snd the good mix of road and gravel was great today

Went and did the old lockdown loop I've been doing for ages, this time though I did it because I wanted to rather than it being the only option. Glad I did as a mate said that the trail centres and the regular natural stuff was all heaving. Think I saw 3 other riders in 20 miles! One but that has been diverted for the last 3 weeks no longer has trees though.

Will venture out to the wilds of the Beacons midweek and avoid the crowds then!
