I went for a ride on my local lake - my house is just in front (sadly not lake fronting!)

Rubbish photo, but I dont care. After 2 hrs of riding my bike was still clean.
Great little session at Cannock despite most of the country being there. I've never seen it so busy. Or had so many knobbers running down the trails.
Cannock, Feb, DRY!

Our weekend was in a Kimbers style. Trailer ordered Thursday, arrived Friday afternoon. built up, 9 month old boy in, instant smiles! Good start!

14 miles on Saturday, up to the Punchbowl, coffee, swimming class, pub lunch, met a mate and his eldest at another pub on the way home.

12 miles yesterday, Punchbowl, 3 Horseshoes (lunch again, get us - high rollers!) up a bit, down to the stream and up again.

After a couple of years of bike rides done separately - two pregnancies, one ending early, one ending brilliantly, and looking after a tiny one - this was like old times, just out on the bikes, following our noses, everything we need with us And now we've got a happy little chappy in tow, burbling and blowing raspberries and watching the world go by.

Absolutely delightful weekend. The weather being lovely was the icing on the cake. Felt like a holiday!

Rolling back down Hindhead Common. Stopped to enjoy the last of the sunshine.

kimbers, just watched your video, lovely!

Can I ask how you get on with dirt in the kiddies faces when you've go the front open?

I was a bit disappointed to see flecks of dirt on his face when we got him out. I had the mesh down but the plastic up. Later I put the plastic down when we headed down hill.

Ever had this problem? You've clearly been doing it longer than us!

@nedrapier

It's an eternal problem

I've seen a plastic screen to bolt on the front that someone has made & was selling on eBay or possibly on here.

The kids don't like the mesh screen that much but it does help.

Sunglasses are very good but they tend to take them off.
If you could get them to wear goggles that'd be great !

My commuter has full guards on the rear & that really helps . We did a 40k coast to coast in Cornwall last summer & they were fine.

Our trailer is probably 6 years old now it was used for the older 2 daily to take them 2 and from nursery.

cheers Kimbers, Early indications are that we'll get a lot of use out of ours!

From reading around forums etc, it seems that rear guards is the only good answer, whether you like it or not! I've been thinking about how to cobble together an easy on/off half guard like you see on big adventure trail bikes. I've got a couple of possibilities in mind, but nothing promising enough to get the tools out and try.

No pictures till I get home (in Helsinki airport at the moment) but did the Rovaniemi 150 fat bike race on Saturday - came seventh in 19:54. Conditions were barmy (and balmy) being above freezing for most of the route.

Five Brits in the top ten. My wife was second lady on fat bike in 18th, (first lady was 5th).

Much harder than two years ago with lots of overflow on the lakes. Lots of comedy snow angels by everyone

A mate showed me some of the off-piste stuff at Cannock, pleasantly suprised, very foggy for a start but then warmed up nicely, had to hire a bike as my new steed hasn't arrived yet, 16 miles and an awful pace showed that I haven't been on a bike in a few months, but totally enjoyed it and can't wait for the new arrival.

Sorry about that! Take comfort from the fact that my damper packed in somewhere around Seathwaite and I got to ride WS and Church Beck with an old school 40mm of bounce.
