I am/was planning to head to the Ladybower area tomorrow, but looking on the web cam and seen that it has been snowing all day in Tideswell, what are the trails going to be like around Ladybower??

Is it pushing it, even just to drive there??

It was "interesting" driving back over Woodhead last night.. And I'm sure today would be even more fun..

We've got over 3 inches of snow on the drive and it's still coming down. There's only a few cars crawling up the main road in Bamford and they're doing a god job of squashing it all down into a nice icy layer, i think it's going to be a nightmare on the roads first thing tomorrow.

On the plus i wont have to go into work ๐Ÿ˜€

been out today round Ladybower.

Quite ridable, but drifting in places to 6" deep. However, as we finished it started snowing heavily and has not stopped since. Struggled to get home as Derbyshire CC don't seem to have gritted the Snake Pass or roads around Hope/Ladybower. was 2" of snow on the A57 today as I drove home and made it hard going.

It's still snowing in west Sheffield with about 4" to 5" down today so far.

It may be ridable tomorrow, but good luck getting there

Stanage plantation was amazing early this afternoon as it started to snow heavily. The road back up to burbage was getting a nice covering and it'll probably be 4x4 only by now.
Then Dore drop/blacka moor...2 inches of fresh powdery perfection!

We have an inch at Darley Dale (Southern edge) and as far as the Peak District goes you can't get much further down in terms of lowland

Just got back from doing the classic Chatsworth loop. Fantastic fun. Still a bit boggy in places. We had hoped it would have frozen solid all over. Very ridable considering the conditions though.

Just drove back from work in Bakewell to sheffield and it took an hour and a half - though there was a load of traffic.
Heard on the radio that snake pass is closed, but maybe you'll get as far as you need to to start the ride, though i'd sugest leaving it till later in the day in case the gritting lorries manage to get around by then.
Was planning on a night ride arond Bakewell, but knocked that on the head in favour of getting home tonight!

Just been out to post some letters in Bamford and the main road is passable with a lot of care. It's got a thin layer of compacted snow and some slush on top so it's really slippery and that's all likely to freeze tonight. If you do head out tomorrow i'd wait until late morning and let the sun and early morning traffic melt it a bit.

As for the Snake Pass i believe that they don't plough it when it's like this as the top section either just gets covered in drifts or turns into an ice rink. They usually just close it and concentrate on keeping the Woodhead Pass open. They do however grit/plough out to the Ladybower inn and then down through Bamford as this is the bus route.

Thanks guys, gonna leave it.
Not worth the two hours drive only to find it snowed out.

Have a good un Rob.

Will have a mince round Cannock Chase instead.

There is a webcam in Hathersage, you can view it on the 'Outside' online shops website. They also post local weather reports, its about 5 minutes from Ladybowerwebcam
