Sealskins are great but do feel a bit baggy for techy stuff, fully submersible in water but they do get a tad warm.£27
After my labrador decided to eat the left hand Sealskin I changed to 661 Storm, very nice snugg fit, warm and 80% waterproof, after a few hours or so they will soak through.£25 oh and they do come a little small i have tiny hands and even a medium feels tight

I would steer clear of Sealskin gloves. Used them all last winter the ideal use scenario was just to restrictive. Between 5 - 8 C they were great rain or shine. Anything above and you hands sweat to the point that you end up with wet hands and colder and they aren't warn enough.

For me a 3C window is just to small - I hated them most of time. Oh and when they get wet they take and age to dry out properly. The fit is rubbish too - I'm starting to really dislike SealSkin products but that's a whole different rant.

This year I'm gonna try Montane Powershield Grip Gloves - not going to be fully waterproof but should be usable in all weathers over winter and they'll dry quickly too (important for commuting).

I've just gone for Endura Dexters and they are great plus gelled as well 🙂 Worth going in to a shop though to check your size with them.

This is confirming my worst fear -- that there's no difference really between the top makes (Endura, sealskinz etc) -- all are decent enough depending on fit. . .
is this the worst product to buy online? I'm beginning to think so. This and shoes.

+1 Endura Dexters. Mine came up large, but this lets me use a very thin "thinsulate" glove underneath when super cold. In better weather i use Spesh BG gloves - so these are extreme weather standbys.

Just got me a pair of winter gloves from ALDI. Similar design to sealskinz and the ones I bought last year are still going strong

I've had the seal skinz for a few seasons and agree with hairymtnbiker, for me I'd love what is basically a summer glove but water proof. We get so much rain here but its not always cold! so no need for thermal but dry would be nice 😉

So while we're on the subject are sealskinz waterproof socks any good or is it cheaper and warmer just to carry a spare pair?

This makes interesting reading: http://www.andy-kirkpatrick.com/articles/view/the_truth_about_gloves

Jamesco I find Sealskin socks the same - only useful in a handful of situations. If it's cold they won't keep you feet warm only dry, if it warm your feet sweat. Prefer overshoes or Winter Shoes with merino wool socks when it's raining.

I thought Dexter's were just the windproof ones, the Deluge is the waterproof version. I rate the Deluge myself although a lot of people criticise them. I've got 3 different types of sealskinz gloves and find all of them give we frozen finger tips below 5c, even with a merino liner.

Woolly gloves with a thin waterpoof shell like the cheap Planet X ones?

Personally I hate padded gloves - I like as little material as possible between my palm and the grip. In summer I use some Raceface gloves that have no padding or annoying seems but great grip. I then use a large, squishy ODI Rogue grip to get the cushioning instead of a glove with padding which moves around and feels uneven.

I'm yet to try the Planet X gloves but will this year. I got them a tad big so can fit a cheap and simple wool glove underneath. Nothing thick, just enough or I can use them without.

anyone tried the Pearl Izumi softshell ones?

I'm tempted to go neoprene, i need the warmth as well as the total water/windproof. Santini and Specialized (although i think discontinued) do them....

actually the new Endura nemo ones get rave reviews...
