Recently built up a fixed from an old 5 speed. When riding though the chain has a tendancy to skip off - not very safe at all!

Chain tension seems fine, chain line looks ok too. The chainring is ever so slightly warped it would seem, which i would diagnose as the problem. Can you unwarp a chainring though?

Is the chain tension fine all the way round? ie it has no tight/baggy spots?

you could try bending the ring back with an adjustable spanner, or just replace it if you don't mind spending a few quid.

Should be able to straighten a chainring OK, more likely a loose spot.

Checked round the pedal rotation and there was a slight loose spot so i've walked the wheel along the dropouts at the loose spot.

Chain nearly binds but not quite and i guess with a bit of stretch it'll be ok. Hopefully that will fix it - else i'll take the wrench to the chainring, but it really isnt warped much at all.

Thanks for the advice all..
