What's good for pub riding - sitting outside in the cold having a beer or three - for keeping warm, as well as being cool (!) for being seen in, and being OK for riding?

I've been wearing a merino sleeved base, with a close fit jacket, but that's only OK for when riding fairly hard, otherwise too cold

Also being wearing three quarter shorts, but think I will have to come round to the concept of trousers

Cheers, and merry chrimbo

You're telling me there are pubs with trails inside?
What a perfect combination

Endura single track trousers. Nice to ride in and sort of softshell so not waterproof but keeps the wind and most of the wet off

I take my Montane Prism Drinking Jaket ™ with me if we're stopping outside a pub.
Small enough to cram in a pack warm enough for beer intake.

That's looking the ticket Stu, cheers

Is it long in the body would you say? If you ride with it, does it cover your lower back?

Will look at the Trousers wiggles - thanks

I'd boil to death trying to ride with it on.
Apart from back from the Navi when it's down to about 2 degrees.
Even then i've got a sweat on locking the bikes up when we get home.

I have a GORE insulated gilet that is perfect for things like that.
They don't make it any more, but any other slim, insulated vest would be fine. Synthetic best if there is a chance it will get wet.

Popped into Go Outdoors who have a lot of the jackets in stock

Tried the Prism - seemed pretty good but the Regatta Iceway was longer in the body which is better for my stretch body, and it packs down to almost nothing

Go are pretty good - they encourage you to barter on price. Instore sign reads find in cheaper anywhere else, including online and you get that price, minus another 10%. So, from a RRP of £100, ended up £51

Very true! 😉
It's also good for stop/start group rides.

Any decent pub should welcome you in and invite you to hog the fire. Then they text you in mid-Dec to ask what night do you want mince pies and mulled wine!

and a couple of us feature in the promo video:

The answer by the way is a Buffalo.

Why would you sit outside? Our village pub has four fires/log burners and three guest ales. Seems the right ratio for winter night rides.

Far too warm for riding any distance in, but perfect for sitting around in single figures/sub-zero.
