Hey all,

I recently picked up the 29” Vitus Escarpe 2020 frameset from CRC as it was silly money & all but the forks from my hard tail will transfer over. (I didn’t go for the sommet as I think it’s probably too much bike for me).

The only FS’er I’ve ridden is weeksys so they’re completely new to me!

I’m in no rush to build it up as I’ve just welcomed a newborn to the family but I was wondering what forks (used) would match up nicely to this frame to keep an eye out for, ideally around £200 mark?

I’ll be using the bike at places like bedgebury.

Thanks!

A secondhand 150mm pike would do it. If it's the same as the 27.5 frame (design and shock spec wise) the linear air can might be on the shock. This will likely need  to be stuffed to the max with spacers.  A progressive air can would be better, but spacers are cheap.

You can extend a Fox 34 to 150mm travel and the Grip damper version is great and should be available for your budget.

If you happen to buy a cheap lyrik or Yari (which would be a lovely stiff fork for the frame) and they aren’t the right travel (they never are when they are cheap) I can sell you a 150mm air shaft for them - it’s now surplus to requirements as I bought the Sommet in the sale and will be putting the 170 shaft back in my forks 🙂

this is 27.5 isn't it?

The crc marzocchi z2 bomber for £180 with 150mm air shaft

I'd be looking at this.  About 75 quid for the airshaft, it's the same as the Fox 34 Rhythm

Top tip! Make a small 5x10cm mudguard out of any old bit of plastic, drill 2 holes and fix it to the bolt holes just above the shock tunnel/split seat tube. Disk rotor bolts are the right size. Keeps the shock clean.

Sorry the Yari is 27.5' - There is a 29" version but only 120mm travel.

Like the Z2 + air shaft option. Means less faff than second hand stuff.

I’ll YouTube how to change before committing 🙂

To confirm - I would just need 820-02-370-kit for the Z2s + oil / grease?

If you haven't already purchased a headset, this frame rides fantastic with a -2 degree angleset. I should of really picked one of these frames up at that price as a spare - it will be a sad day if I ever break mine.
