Vitus e-mtb battery suddenly dead?!

I’ve got an 11ish old and lightly used Vitus e-sommet e-mtb. It’s a wonderful thing. Suddenly this week the battery won’t hold or take a charge. It’s was previously left charged. Any clues? I’m liaising with CRC but just trying to get inside track on how common this is and what issue/resolution might. It’s 2 weeks away from end of warranty! Thanks

If you are in warranty you should be ok. Batteries are fickle things and occasionally you'll get a duff cell.

It’s was previously left charged.

LiPo batteries don't like to be left fully charged. If you've got a weak cell, you'll have quickened it's demise.

Best off giving it a kick after you finish your ride, up to about 60-70%, then finishing off the charge just before your ride.

Or, as with EV batteries, only really charging for what you're planning to do, with a margin.

Saying that, 11 months, warranty...

Nah they're lithium ion, different beast to Lipo, same as all my power tools they just get run flat then charged up. Only had problems with a couple over the years and thats usually down to a bad cell. Mind you if we all swapped over to Lipo batteries I could make a fortune selling fire and explosion proof charging bags😀😀

Have you tried testing your charger output?

Has it been left in the cold in a garage etc? If so try bringing indoors and seeing if it'll charge then.

Taken the battery out the frame at all? I've read some Esommet owners having issues with the internal battery connections after taking the battery out
