My son saw some racing on tv ,said he would like to have a go on a velodrome/wooden track .
Any suggestions where, price ,bike hire or not etc.
Live in west wales,Carmathan large town of any size/cardiff i guess ?
Newport will be your closest indoor velodrome
Great thanks.
Anyone know if u can hire bikes on site ,or could he use my road bike ?
Manchester offer a taster session for £10 for the bike and an hour on the track. Well worth it, just take 2 litres of water to drink
paul - Newport (like Manchester) does a "taster" session. With that bike hire is included - there's no way they'll let anyone on there on a road bike (brakes - eek!).
Have a go yourself. Track riding is wonderful.

Newport do hire bikes. Road bikes will not work.
I think Sat mornings is for kids plus there are drop insessions on during the week. Best to contact the velodrome or website.

There is also Maindy track in Cardiff - which would be fine for a road bike.
Presumably you know that Carmarthen has an outside velodrome, these are the guys to get in touch with

For Cardiff outside velodrome then http://www.maindyflyers.com
There isn't one in Milton Keynes...we came around a corner fast (but non threatening) the other sunday and the charming young lady caught out with two dogs on extending leads going in opposite directions blocking our path who exclaimed "this is not a velodrome you know" we politely agreed and rode on ...impressed!!
