I have an XT triple chainset and i'm thinking about buying a 26T granny, a 38T middle chainring and a bashguard.
Like these Blackspire ones.Blackspire

Has anyone done this and will it work having the larger chainrings on the triple?

I think they do a treking chainset with a 26T granny, 36T middle and 48T outer based on the XT M770 chainset.

But one thing to check is that you have enough clearance to your chainstay.

Here you go:

uses the M770 arms.

I have the rings from the aforementioned XT chainset, brand new and never been on a bike if you're interested?

I have fitted "normal" rings to the chainset so no compatibility issues there

It'll be fine - used TA Chinooks, 28/40.
