He's got to get his money from somewhere and it probably won't be from Sick!
All this^ if heโs got 60 loads of time and materials committed then heโll be really feeling the pain
Marinoโs agenda is to get his money back. Heโs paid for the materials, the paint job and the man hours to build those frames. Even if it was a % paid up front, Marino will be seriously out of pocket.
Even if they are half built he's as well to finish them . They are at least sailable.
Half built they are nothing more than lost time and money
Wonders if Marino has his own agenda in publicising this?
Yes but not exactly hidden or unfair. Those frames will have cost money in time/materials and for some odd reason I doubt they see sick coughing up anytime soon. By cutting out the middleman he gets to recoup that expenditure and there is a reasonable chance the people who ordered them via sick also end up with the frame they wanted although sadly some may have to pay twice.
What? What is your agenda Phil? So far youโve insinuated that every side in this is dodgy in some way?
And yet your still chelping, pretending to have some vested interested in helping the poor and needy , it's been pointed out your only here to stir the pot.
You can guarantee even though Tom has no horse in the race he will be there stirring away like a desperate attention seeking nobody.
In fact no, no it wasn't that your still pissed that Jordan told you to jog on and do one aren't you sock puppet.
What? What horse do you have in the race Phil?
And low the ban hammer swings
As I've said before precious it's got nothing to do with you has it, is that what upsets you most , the fact your nothing to people yet crave attention just like Jordan.
But why are you focussing your anger at me? We agree!
You guys are cute
Lovely stuff
I have had the displeasure of reading this whole thread.
Phil, I think you need a sit down pal.
Whatโs cute is the idea that if you want to dig into stuff that seems dodgy, or to stop something causing harm to people, you have to join a queue of victims before youโre entitled to do anything.
But why are you focussing your anger at me? We agree!
I believe the term is โtrollingโ.
I love how that Instagram post originally said โcustomers, expect an email tonightโ and now says โcustomers, *edit* expect an email Wednesdayโ.
When you canโt even deliver an email when you say you willโฆ jeez.
Meanwhile, over on IG
Love you bros. The real community are here to chip in whatever you need. Negative folks above are just [expletive deleted].
The real community, bro!
here to chip in whatever you need.
They need cash. Enough to pay off their suppliers and refund their 'customers' at least. If you bros can spare a few quid for some bling cranks, carbon wheels and anodized bits, that would be great. Thanks, bros!
Meanwhile on IG the post has vanished...
Presumably the rest of the โBro Communityโ are going to chip in some cash to help the Sick dudes out......?
No?
Oh, well, good to know that the โcommunityโ is behind you, at least until it comes to actually doing anything.
Plonkers.
They can't help themselves can they? ๐ - Someone really needs to block their IG access for a bit.ย You get the impression that they start out really wanting to do something correctly then get wound up and lose it.
Oddly theyโve even deleted posts that were quite supportive
yep.ย I think they are a bit wound up and not thinking clearly
Itโs almost stopping being funny. If they hadnโt started as total abusive bellends and then failed to show any contrition or even see that their unwillingness to communicate was a problem, then maybe the general response to their situation may have been different. Never mind, their IG supporter clan will save them.
Imagine being in the queue for the bus at BPW astride your Sick! bicycling bicycle.
Would the conversation be,
"Props, bro! You're part of the real community, sticking it to the man, man! Psikk whip, bro"
Or...
"Oh wow! You bought one of those?"
Thereโs a post on the FB Steel is Real group from Marino (the frame builders).
Apparently they had been in communication with Sick about payment for work and agreed a final deadline of May 20th as they had their own bills to pay. The deadline has sailed with radio silence so theyโve given up and are selling the frames to recoup their losses. Apparently 30 frames were completed and thereโs another 30 part built...
โWe had comunication with Jordan and Tim from SICK BIKES, the payment limit date was may 20th, we hadn't recieved any comunication from them... because we have material to pay, CNC machine, welders, painters, we see ourselves in the obligation to sell these frames, if you are interested please communicate with me :
Marinobike@Gmail.comFRESH !!!!Frames on stock from 2 months

โOh wow! You bought one of those?โ
I would go with:
โOh wow! You bought one of those and it actually turned up!!!!!โ
โOh wow! You bought one of those?โ
"Yeah but in a different size and colour, I tried flogging it off on ebay but there's some Peruvian seller kicked the bottom right out of the market"
Here's a pic of mine all you hayters

Maybe worth buying a sick frame from Marino and mothballing it. Who knows might be worth a bit in years to come !!
Wonder how much the frame bought direct from Peru would be?
would have to cover up the stupid logos though

Collectors edition, one of only 30 ever known to have been made!
This whole saga reminds me of a car that's had an accident and is on fire, rolling down a hill, and every time it rolls, penguins fall out, and it keeps going and penguins keep falling out (or something)...
Question: what do people see as the end point here? It feels like eventually the wheels will fall off this thing, and the ability to keep spinning lies to those to whom they owe money will end. Then what? Bankruptcy presumably; maybe someone comes in to buy what few assets there are.
Prison time for the directors? Just barred from running a company again?

This would make a good movie.
A very low budget, made for tv movie admittedly.
pre-order the movie?
Nicko - its all going bust. The money has gone. People need to go to court to get refunds if there is anything left to refund with
They could well be in legal trouble for trading while insolvent and even fraud possibly as they continue to take orders they cannot fulfill
They have clearly pissed money up the wall, and now can't pay the builder.
So we're they hoping to sell enough t-shirts to fund this? Because selling more frames you can't supply (as you'd have to sell them at high enough to cover both sets of frames which is never going to happen) is full on Ponzi and illegal... So they are playing a dangerous game.
What was the plan?
Where did the money for the frames go?
What a shower of shite Sick are.
Iโve been in & out of business for nearly 30 years - these guys just cone across as totally fing inept. One excuse after another, begging for more time & forgiveness. Well, youโve had plenty of that & then some - time to MTFU & pay up. Hopefully thereโll learn from the experience & not be such a clusterF the next time..
How some of you can keep backing if fing beyond me!
Still, a fool & his money....

I think you might be disappointed ๐
Where did the money for the frames go?
Coke & hookers?
Where did the money for the frames go?

That Edge fork is a bit spendy...
See also Sweet Wings cranks, custom anodising, carbon wheels etc. All great for building up a presence with the "real community bros" on IG. Also all good for building up a big debt on the trade accounts

Chainstayz look 30mm too long
Chainstayz look 30mm too long
and it isn't the size I ordered plus the (s****) warranty ain't worth shit but otherwise everything is tip top....bit laterally flexy too but I'm (not) sure it will be fine😀
I was also worried that if we did sit down and decide to make a pleasing business case, and take a huge loan, that it would cost us a lot more in the long term anyway - while doubling down on risk, doubling down on the pressure to succeed. It seemed like the lightest way of doing that. It also relied heavily that everything was delivered on time, and that people would be prepared to wait.
And if it wasnโt, it would be okay because we had a close relationship with the customer, that there would never be that point where they were really concerned that it was like some kind of pyramid scheme or something like that.
This quote from the PB article is telling. It was always the plan to pass the risk to the customer...
In addition, with this in mind, they purposefully targeted the Ti frames as loss leaders...so they were intentionally creating a situation where they were spending money that they didn't have on passion projects...knowing that this money should have been going to frame builders
Again, from PB article
On top of that, the biggest mistake I made was my own passion projects. The titanium frames, the reason that they're on the market for half the price of every other one, was not because there was a shady deal where they were made out of garbage. It was because: One, we brought up someone else's production time that fallen through. And two, that they were loss leaders.
