So I have a 29 x 3" Minion on the front of my Stooge, but the rim is only 30mm internal (I was originally planning on just running a 2.6")
I've not really noticed any tyre instability, but I would like to run slightly lower pressures than I do, and then I guess I will run into trouble.
Question is, will, a decent tyre insert give a level of stability that makes up for the relatively narrow rim?
Next question would be what insert? I'm thinking the Vittoria or a Rimpact, tempted towards the former as you can by them in singles.
Just to add you can get single rimpacts from Hunt Wheels.....I found them on there and bought one accordingly as I only wanted one for my back wheel.

Not sure but it's worth a try, as I noticed an improvement in stability adding a Rimpact to a 2.6in front tyre.
The Vittoria looks to be the type of insert that sits in the wider part of the tyre, rather than pushing the bead into the rim, so I'm not sure that would do what you are looking for. It's also more expensive for one than buying a pair of Rimpact inserts.
Vitoria Airliner in similar width rims with 2.6 tyres. I certainly feel the tyre is more stable.
