[#11480764]

the hydraulic hose on my cargo bike (think tandem length) has a weeping nik about halfway along.

id prefer to not strip the hose out and replace i f possible and repair where it is, can’t for the life of me find any inline repair apart from the ticycles one in the U.s.

anyone done similar?

I do have spare shimano threaded collars barbs and olives but can’t find a coupler as not sure on thread

Its shimano 5mm but obviously will use any fitting that works.

Tia

You need the shimano easy joint thingies. Not sure if they're available aftermarket though. I'll dig out my cx bike and see if there is a part number on them.

No part number, just says Shimano on them. Sorry.

Cheers Simon, I’ve seen them mentioned but no part numbers to be found.

think they’re known as j-kit or easy joint. Would be amazing if they are available aftermarket.

Yep, they're J-kits, and as I found out when we sent a faulty lever back with one fitted, they don't seem to be available seperately (and they have a crimped end on a short hose, so unlikely to be much use unless the nick is very near the end). It may be worth speaking to your local hydraulics supplier/specialist.

SM-BH59-JK straight connection hose for ST-RS685/BR-RS785 says it comes with 2 removable inline fittings.

I can look at making some if you can't find anything suitable.

Cheers K, I’ve now bitten the bullet and decided to replace the whole line as it’s still cheaper than various other options.

the hydraulic dry coupler being particularly pricey.

i still think there’s a market for a repair connection for anyone but $22 plus import etc is too rich for me.

thanks for everyone’s advice and help
