[#1232342]

i see 2 tosspots every morning.......
tight jeans, plimsoles, checked shirts, moptopps.
2 brakes between them, dayglo rims, 6 inch bars...........
are they stupid.
bikes need brakes, it is winter, cotton shoes will not keep your feet dry, and get your haircut, cos it obviously blocks your vision and makes you unable to see other vehicles........
****ing students............

They're all over Bristol like a rash, you'll soon learn to tolerate them.

I normally wear sandals unless it's icy - water runs off your feet 🙂

Don't mind 'em TBH.

Just the same as all the middle aged Wiggins wannabees riding round in team kit every July - each to their own fantasy, all part of lifes rich doo-dah etc.

Some of those fixie bikes look quite nice - specially the ones recycling old road frames and parts.

Not too keen on the deep-wheeled flouro nightmares, but I used to wear socks and laces that colour (with my white Hi-Tech baseball boots!) so officially have no right to complain. 😀

any fashion that pushes fresh air, fitness and recycling old bikes is alright in my book.

the bikes have brakes - whats the problem.

seems you might be a bit huffy that these guys still fit in tight jeans and have full heads of hair.
when you just make jeans look tight.

they would most likely take the pi$$ out of the bike you ride, but you are a moving targert there....

I rode a fixie into work this morning. It has two brakes - a traditional single pivot on the front and a fixed gear for the rear wheel (check the law out, this counts as a brake). Was wearing a helmet though and normal jeans tucked into my socks...

Yes and don't forget using your foot on your rear tire too, that's a form of brake too isn't it, or your nuts for that matter ;-).

People can ride what they want, but a bike that intentionally makes riding downhill hard work just seems daft.

have you tried it? it's a workout if nothing else.

i like cruising around on my fixie. you constantly have to think about what is coming up. there is no coasting along. you can ride backwards - particularly cool if you cross the line at the lights and ride backwards back across the line.

well, some might say i'm offensive, i've definately got long hair (off tot he barbers shortly), coolness is relative, youth is still there (i think, 27) but abs i certainly can't admit to....

My son (13) would say you'd lost youth, I (44) might think you were hanging in there. I still feel about 17 (mentally, though - physically I feel about 70 sometimes) so I think youth is relative as well, really.
