Found out yesterday my employer has finally signed up to the bike to work scheme with Halfords - but capped it at £600. Just been told it's to make sure employees don't 'overstretch themselves financially.'
So, before I go and overstretch myself financially and bang it on a credit card, is there anyway of turning a £600 voucher into more - ie a Planet X SL Pro Carbon?
(Having facilities at work means I don't actually need a traditional commuter - racks, mudgaurds etc...)
Any ideas?
why dont you ring Planet X and see if they can build you something for £600, and then just change parts out of your own pocket until its the spec you want. Probably still work out a fair whack cheaper
or them to build the bike you want and cap the bike to work invoice at £600, while you pay the rest separately?

I'll give them a call though and see what they think - just wanted to see if anyone knew if it's possible/had done it themselves first.
Seems the topping up is a thing of the past. I had to go through Halfords with my work scheme, in 2006 I was allowed to pay anything over £1,000 and get what I wanted, last year it was a big fat NO!
If you do top it up, just remember that the company owns the bike until you've paid it off. They'll own the whole thing, including what you have topped up. Probably not a problem, but you never know.
