[#4680753]

whilst out in the garage this morning on my ageing elite mag trainer, i looked down at the knackered bar remote, rusty back supports and decided its time for an upgrade.

i have up to £500 to spend (i get trade at madison and zyro so have access to the more expensive Elite and Minours trainers)and thought id ask on here for folks advice. The virtual reality option looks appealing as ive been through my library of cycling DVD's so many times but am open to suggestions (trainers or rollers)

Much appreciated in advance

Kurt Kinetic again. This time a vote for the Road Machine which I've had for the last three years. No nonsense bombproof trainer consistent enough that you can use speed as a reasonable substitute for power measurement. Works well with TrainerRoad so you could use a TrainerRoad-Sufferfest combo.

Tacx Flow plus the upgrade head unit is more than enough for me. Bought a couple of rlv's and done a bit of the virtual with a steering frame but mainly like "riding" my own imported Gpx files. Download the power, cadence and heart rate files into wko+ for information overload.

I'd be tempted to wait for the Wahoo Kickr.

Get one that works with Trainerroad, really liking Traineroad with the sufferfest films.
I've got a Tacx Flow with the upgrade to run on the computer, but I've not used the upgrade since starting with Traineroad

I have had a few setups, air, mag, tacx imagic etc. Kurt Kinetic is the best I have used. Nice and smooth, can cope with my massive power. Its easy to use with Trainer Road/ Sufferfest and all that stuff if you want.

Was going to suggest maybe waiting for the Wahoo, do they have an importer yet?

+1 for the Road Machine; it is expensive but its solid, smooth, progressive and with the weather we've been having makes 2 hour sessions more enjoyable.

Mines quite old now but the current models allow you to add a large fly wheel which makes it even smoother 'apparently' .

I really want one of the elite real axiom trainers, I'm nowhere near justifying it, but I guess they might be more reasonably priced at trade and look cool.
