I have repaired tyres with a STD large innertube patch and vulcanising solutiuon - are the tubeless repair kits the same or do they have different glue in them?

No, they use a sticky/tacky/dreadloc/braid/string - like bit of stuff that one coats in standard patch glue then prod through said hole in tyre leaving the ends 'hanging in the breeze' (don't trim them).
Think of them as a kind of 'semi' butt-plug affair, or am I just being plain coarse and disgusting *shock* 🙂
