if i get some wheels built with stans flow rims do i still need rim tape/strips or is it a simple case of fitting the valve and off you go..?
Not sure with the Stans rims, Mavic UST rims usually are completely sealed, and I think Bontrager rims come with a special plastic rim strip that totally seals the rim bed. Stans are probably the same. I've got both Mavic and Bontrager rims and there are no sealing issues with either. The Bonty ones came with a bike, and TBH, I've never bothered looking to see how they're sealed. I just put the tyres on, put some sealant in and blow them up. Seemples. :0)
One tip, use washing-up liquid on the bead when you put the tyre on. It helps getting tight beads over the rim, and really helps seal the bead when inflating. It's probably the one simple thing that can make using tubeless a much easier process.
You need the yellow tape to run a UST tire or a tubeless ready tire (2Bliss etc) or you need the yellow tape and rim strips to run a normal tire.
cheers GP i'll look into it, is it a faff?
Nope, easy!
Just make sure you pull the yellow tape really tight when fitting it. My 2Bliss tires seal first time, everytime.
You just need yellow tape and a couple of valves. Just follow the instructions on the Stans no tubes website and you can fit any tire (although admittedly some are easier than others!). No need for weighty rim strip or UST tyres. Anyway, check out the videos!
i'll look into it, it sounds good!
winstanleys sounds good price atm
Rimstrip = No faff with any normal tyre
No rimstrip - yellow tape and valve only = Very high likelihood of faff with normal tyres, ok with USTs.
Up to you really!

Hi i am running stans solution & tubless tyres on a set of industry nines & it was the best move i ever made, the tip about using washing up liquid is spot on it realy helps, i hope this temps you to take the plunge.you could get in touch with justridingalong based in sheffield this is where i bought mine.
Couple of things discovered by my mate when he went for the same option - use Stans sealant - others can react to the soapy water and go off.
The tubeless rimstrip is extra, don't use the rimtape that comes with the rims! (He did)
I think he said the tubeless valves came with the rims.
