Decided to try ghetto tubeless and having a slight problem.
After struggling with track pump to inflate I used the fizzy pop bottle method.
Could only get this to work with core of vale removed, this does inflate.
After that I have a problem, have sealant in tyre but no valve core.
After I remove the air and reinsert the valve core, I then can't get the tyre to seat with track pump.
What the trick?
If you cant inflate using track pump (this usually works for me) inflate using ghetto inflator and as you pull the hose off put a finger on the valve and then screw in the core as quick as you can. I only lose a few psi using this method then top up using track pump
Yep finger over the hole then pop the core in and set the pressure after. Just make sure you have the tool ready.

^ This. It sounds obvious but it works...the air pressure is not enough that it'll slice your finger clean off ๐
That did it ๐
I expected to lose more air.
Thanks
Doesn't matter if you lose the air anyway. The tricky part is seating the rim and if you can remove the core to do that then that's best. Once seated, stick sealant in and then you can just screw the core in and pump as normal and should go up no problem. If it's a fresh set up you'll need to do the soapy water around the bead trick and once you have sealant in then it should seal up the tiny gaps along the bead and any porous parts of the sidewall.
CO2 is a great way to seat the tyre also. Just make sure you use that to seat, then deflate and add sealant, then pump up with air. Sealant doesn't mix well with CO2.
Ok all in, sealant in, shook around etc.
I am assuming once it's had some time to seal, on the trial a hand pump should be fine?
How do you mean fine? You will be able to use the pump to put a tube in and inflate that, if it's ghetto rather a tubeless rim then you will struggle to get it re inflated if you loose the seal.
As long as you dont break the seal although since going tubeless ive never needed to use the trail pump
Get a tubeless repair kit. You may avoid having to pop a tube in. Don't forget if you take a tube to take something to help get your tubeless valve out. Leatherman pliers for me...
