Id like a superlow setting for the roads because even on low its a lt of light for drivers to face...

Chris

From reading the maxflex manual it would appear you can adjust the low level ,if this is correct can you confirm
which of the five setting it is on now (menu 8.3) default is level 2.
you can email me with the info if you don't want everyone tinkering which is understandable. 😆

The Maxflex driver has some aspects of the menu locked to deter compulsive tinkerers from messing it up and then sending it back
as faulty .

Full instructions for the maxflex are on the taskled site .

But you need a pin from me to tinker with the important settings .
and the responsibility for any cockups is then yours .

I dont know if the duo / multi mode is included in the locked menus

The main ones I wanted locked were the drive current / thermal sensing / and battery warning .

Are you at home tomorrow morning as I'm heading over to Otley and you could adjust them for me if possible?

Arrived at the conclusion today that it would have been better if I'd gone for a fully built up light. The only bit I could find for my venerable Antex iron was a big fat one, I had no solder, and I needed some wire and some silicon to seal the switches. By the time I bought that lot, and I had to buy three bits, not just one, it cost me £27, just three quid short of Trout's build price. Oh well, live and learn, eh.

You must have good eyes Stoner! I was riding wet roads the other night and found the low setting too low so ran on full most of the way.

I stand corrected...I guess it all depends on the driver current when on low.

I'd like the low setting turned up to match that of my replaces Light & Motion ARC if at all possible.
If you read this before 8.30 in the morning (Monday) Chris and you are in tomorrow could you email me over your address please?

Oh Well XT you will need to buy another one and halv the cost of the tools . 😕

Low is about 540 lumens

John it depends how long you are in the area as I am away till mid afternoon .

Multi mode is ok but a bit of a faff I find
but you then do have a true very low of 240 lumens driven @ 80 ma

I find the best setting for me on the Maxflex drivers is the UIP mode, using the 'Force Setting' option set to L3 gives a very useable low mode, easy switching to high power (or back again) with a press (so essentially duomode).

But crucially also acccess to 5-level multimode by press and hold on turn on. Best of both worlds! Do lose the strobe option in UIB modes but have never used that myself.

Just received mine today, and just been comparing against a Lupine Betty in the field at the bottom of the garden.

They throw out quite a different light (colour and spread)

Been doing a back garden comparison to a Hope Vision 4.

The Trout main spread shape is half moon like, shaped downwards so as to illuminate the near field in front of you. It seems quite focused with the fill dropping off sharply past 45degrees each side of the straight ahead line. Nearfield is very well lit indeed, being very bright.

In this spread shape the Trout is similar to the Hope. The Hope's colour is quite a bit warmer, the Trout is alot whiter, and of course brighter, especially where it counts - about 3-14' in front.
