*Replying Xipe Totec*

Im always around to lend a hand, just drop me a msg and i'll be there 🙂

I am seriously thinking of getting one, but am just struggling to justify nigh-on 500 notes on lighting within 2 months lol!!! Perhaps seeing one in the flesh would help to sway me...

Rob.

XP you need the thermal epoxy for the driver and the leds the paste is for between the 2 halves of the case so the bottom fins can do their stuff .

Monty no problems 😛 it probably wont come home again 😆
but I have enabled the self destruct feature 😈

Great postie has been busy today

for you lot who are getting impatient and ready to solder stuff
and me failing to do a step be step how too as I dont seem to have the time to spare at the moment .

here is a pic of roughly what it should look like before you put the lid on and seal it all up in the messy silicon .

I will try tonight to finish the how too off .

[IMG] [/IMG]

also dont worry about the driver config it has been set By taskled for best use so it is ready to go with all the right settings .

Chris,

Could you please give an update to those who have not yet received their lights.

I'm not being impatient, just askin'. Do we wait for you to contact us?

I for one have not been contacted and neither have I paid the remaining 50% of the light's balance

Cheers

Nigel

Chris, what sort of gauge of wire do you use? I need to pop in to Maplins Saturday so it'll be handy to know what to get.

Update my end. Chargers never turned up as should of today. But as soon as I get them, Tomorrow hopefully now, I will send them DHL 24Hr up to troutie. That will be Thursday earliest now.

On behalf of troutie and myself thank you for putting up with the initial delay in getting these lights/ kits out to you, we never thought the demand would be as high as this and it has caught us completely off guard. Bear in mind we build the batteries/ lights up in our spare time and if anything the praise should be directed to mrs trout and mrs smudge for putting up with the 2 of us over these last few weeks.

Thanks again
smudge,

lets see those lights in action 😛

ooOOoo

Yep dead Proud and I think he is going to go for the world record sometime .

here is Louis mail

Just thought I would update you on the Coastal Classic last week. The light worked well although I am not sure that it is significantly better than the old one on the water. Water just seems to swallow up all the available light whatever you through at it. On land it is noticeably brighter and more light at your feet..
Thank you both for your support and getting the light so quickly.

Well the first 200km was a flyer and I completely exceed my expectations and that of people following me. The 13 Cabrinha Crossbow (2010) was perfect for the conditions and certainly had the wind range (8-30 knots) to cope with the weather on the day. Doing the Coastal Classic was never about trying to beat the yachts and was more about physical and mental challenge. The 262km covered between Auckland and the Bay of Islands is however a new NZ distance record, so am happy with that result. I was averaging 17 knots for my best hour and sustaining speeds in excess of 20 knots to do that. My time for the first 200km to Cape Brett was 7 hours which is also well under world record (333km) pace for 12 hours.

With an outgoing tide and dying wind it was always going to be difficult to get into Russell on a kite. The plan was to take a wide berth at Cape Brett as the kite won't fly in less than 8 knots. The support boat was running low on petrol once we got to Cape Brett so a call was made for the boat (8.5m Protector) to head back into Russell and fuel up. That left me on my own for a bit but with Spot, VHF, flares and a cell phone, felt pretty comfortable on my own. I am really appreciative to the Coastguard for shadowing me until the support boat came back.

In the end I pulled the pin 8nm from the finish at 10:30pm after the wind died around 10:15. I did consider swimming the last bit but was too far out to do this realistically. The body was still willing even after 13 hours and recovered well afterwards. The only ill effect was a sore wrist , which I got from sitting in front of a computer typing. Moral of the story work is dangerous...(smile).

D

Wow what a thing to attempt. Being in the middle of nowhere with just a little kite to stop you drowning...

Nice little waterproofing test!
