Anyone got a 2022 Trek Slash 7?
Just wondering on your thoughts on it and any pics would be great.
Seems about the best balance of geometry I'm after and spec for the money.
I prefer shimano so all good there, but not sure on how well the yari performs? I had one on a 2017 spesh enduro and wasn't that impressed with it especially compared to the fox 36's and Z1 I've run of late.
Cheers.
Tbf tuned have a third party damper upgrade for the yari last I looked
If the main concern is the damper in the Yari, you can get a number of aftermarket upgrades as @james says. I’ve got a Novyparts splug in a Revelation which is great and they do one for the Yari too. Don’t let that put you off the rest of the bike if it’s what you’re after.
The Yari has a Lyrik chassis and spring so it just needs a damper upgrade really.
Charger 2.1
Fast Yari up
Novyparts splug
All of the above would do the job.
Cheers all. Will look at the damper upgrades.
Anyone got any comments on how the new Slash rides, ideally the aluminium version?
I've got a custom carbon slash with zebs etc. Amazing bike...surprisingly agile for something that looks so big! Pedals better than most long travel enduro bikes and carrys speed so well throughmy local singletrack in the Surrey Hills, but when the going gets rough really comes alive !
I also have Yari's on my rail which I added a novyparts splug, which frankly transformed them! A bargain at approx £110
What a fortuitous thread. My wife has just ordered a small Slash 7 for her and our 12 yr old aspiring enduro rider to share - well, for him at the moment but in the knowledge that when he outgrows it it’ll be ideal for her size wise. I don’t know much about Yari forks so the comments above are interesting, but generally it looks like pretty decent kit on it.
I have got the Slash 8. Love it. Had a 2018 Enduro Elite Carbon before it and like this just as much. Perhaps even more as the rear end is super plush
I can't remember retail prices but I have the Slash 8 and I seem to remember it being much more bike for not much more money? Better front and rear boingers, brakes and GX over NX. Some people moan about the bikes having a climb switch on the shock, but after owning a Norco Sight before, I'll take the climb switch and great suspension / bottom out resistance on the descents over bikes with a better pedaling platform but not amazing rear suspension.
Yes looked at the Slash 8. Definitely better on the front and rear shock specs but unfortunately it's out of budget and it's sram, ideally was after shimano drivetrain/brakes.
