I am looking to buy a hardtail. I'm using my full sus for everything after I sold my cyclocross as I just wasn't riding it. I've been looking for weeks and narrowed it down to these two. Wiggle are expecting new stock of the Vitus in soon so I need to make a decision. What's everyone's opinion and what would you go for? Cheers
Good luck finding a Roscoe
Shop local to me has one in stock. Also available from Trek direct. Just discovered this though which has thrown a spanner in the works

The Trek Roscoe has similar rear wheel set up to my Giant Fathom 1. 141mm Boost hub with 5mm QR. The hubs are crap. Having my wheel rebuilt with a Hope Pro 4 at the moment. Did like the Trek Roscoe 8 when test rode it. Never seen the Vetus Sentier so cant coment on it!
I had heard a few bad reports about the hub on the Roscoe 7 being pretty crap. Thought the one on the 8 may have been better
Probably go with the Vitus I think - although the Scandal seems to have good geo - not available until mid July though
I do want a 29er. I know the Roscoe will take 29 wheels. Just not sure on the 27.5+ on there from stock
Another spanner in the works but again not a 29er

Only disappointing thing about the Vitus is the SX drivetrain. I've heard a few bad reports
Any more opinions on this?
I built up a sonder frontier for my wife earlier in the year and she loves it. Built it 27.5+ but handy to have the option of putting 29er wheels in too if she wants it to be a bit more nippy. The while bikes are good value too. Handling wise it seems really capable and a good set up for bike packing as well.
My only issue with my Scandal is it feels like it could comfortably be even longer, lower and slacker than it already is. But then mine is built up with 35 forks and 2.4 Goma tyres.
The Judy TK fork might put me off the current version though. The original 35 Gold they spec'd is a beast of a fork. I was expecting it to be 'OK' but actually I dont really miss my old fancy forks. The damping just seems to work well enough most of the time.
The Judy TK fork might put me off the current version though
Yeah the fork was one of the down sides. By all accounts the forks on the Vitus are superb. The SX is the only thing putting me off the Vitus
A bump for anyone who may have missed this and has an opinion
