Considering a S/H Trek Superfly 2013 FS frame from one of our own, and I was imagining I could pair it with a pair of Rebas of unknown but considerable vintage that I happen to have.
I think the Trek was designed around G2 geometry which was intended to be run with a fork with more rake, I think.
Is it significant, what will happen with this set-up?
I dunno but my Xcal feels good with non g2 Fox forks, it doesn't feel 'funny' or anything in the steering dept,
All g2 is is the fork offset, I don't think the frames themselves are any different than whatever normal is nowadays..
I have a trek g2 Reba that's off my girlfriends superfly on eBay if you are interested.
Handling will be a little slower with a non-G2 fork. Some might prefer that, others not, and some don't notice.
G2 forks are 51mm offset - used to be exclusive to Trek, but now it's a standard option on most forks.
Isn't it literally just 51mm offset? I worried about this til I discovered my Pikes were also 51mm offset.
Totally fine, go for it.
Will see how it goes then. Might drop the dude a line later.
Apparently a number of the trek xc pro's have run "normal" offset forks over the years as they prefer the slower handling. So should be fine.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the frame bit of the G2 concept was a slightly longer than average top tube?
And in the meantime many other brands have gone longer still anyway.
I'm likely to use narrower bars than the fashion anyway so it might work out. Certainly not a no-go anyway - thanks folks.
