I'm about to spend a few w/e's with my Folks nr Petworth.
Can any locals can tell me (or show me) any trails in the area? Thanks, Victoria.
You're not a million miles from some fun singletrack at whiteways over the back of Arundel. Would offer to show you but nursing a broken wrist from an interface with a tree there last week.
If you haven't been before make sure you go for a walk round Petworth Park when the sun's out, lovely place
Ouch. Thanks for the tips. Will avoid trees, and get to Petworth Park. Hope it fixes quick. Cheers.
QECP is 30 mins away, and Stoughton (Kingley Vale) is about 40... great riding. But you also have the SDW and plenty of linked bridleway right on your doorstep, and there is good riding at Easbourne too, though I don't know it too well. Join up at 'Kingley Vale Mountain Bikers' which covers this area... and I'll also dig out some Strava routes (should have a copy of my Heatmap).
Rogate is nearby and there are some cracking bridlways up near the radio mast.
Check out the Wiggle southern rough ride loop, iirc it heads up toward Petworth , or Duncton hill at least.
Brilliant.
Also Blackdown and other other hills around Haslemere is quite near and worth a look.
Some lovely trails in the Goodwood area of the S Downs, which are less than 10 miles from Petworth.
Blackdown as said above is good with plenty of trails, can also be linked into a loop to Punchbowl via Marley. Also take a look at Bexley Hill above Midhurst, some DH stuff up there plus again can make a decent loop around Midhurst on some nice trails too over to Older Hill and via iping common. Feel free to mail me if you want some pointers on where to go.
There is a route from the Southern Cross Spotive thing from March that starts and finishes in Duncton, heads over the SDW then loops back over Petworth and through the forests back to Duncton.
Great route, it's on Strava but I've got the GPX too.
Nice ride.
