I'm up in Northumberland for a weeks holiday next week, so is there any decent riding within an hour of Seahouses?

There must be some stuff up that way. I was just up the road in Bamburgh a few weeks ago and saw loads of mountain bikers on the lanes. If you have a fat bike there looked to be good dunes and stuff just north of bamburgh.

I wouldn't bother. It's all tarmac or sand.

We are taking the bikes, as Jnr FD has just started using a Tagalong, so will be riding on the beach (low tide), easier BW's on the coast.

I was just thinking of trying to head out for a morning myself.

Shame we wont have room for me to put the CX bike in as well..

I'm joking of course.

It's quite flattish in the immediate vicinity but get an OS map and explore. There are BWs on the area called Bewick Moor to the West which are described as quintessential Northumberland Moutainbiking for example.

Just don't tell anyone please!

Heading onto the Cheviots from Wooler and Alwinton along with Simonside South of Rothbury all worth a look.

In short I would suggest buying a map and joining the dots.

There are a good few routes shown on here: http://www.mtbtrails.info/Trail_main_page.aspx

Jedburgh?
MOD: Image removed due to malware (link) are a possibility.

Not a million miles from Inners/Glentress either...

an hour would get you to Thrunton woods no problem, and Alwinton, and wooler. Plenty of great riding...

Has Bewick moor fallen out of favour, was there at the beginning of summer and the grassy singletrack was quite overgrown, worst I have seen it, last year it was a bit of a bogfest on that section, so has maybe put a few folks off.

If you like trail center type riding Thrunton is just up the road.

Keilder, Wooler and Rothbury are the best places to go. Im from Alnwick and theres naff all round, there shame as the coast is spectacular.

This thread has caused me to waste a good hour on this mapping site today, making up routes in all the above areas... Done plenty of walking roundabout but have only ever cycled in Kielder. This must change, sooner rather than later - only an hour's drive for me.

And there's naff all round here (between Durham and Sunderland). Few short routes out of Durham I suppose.

get yourself to bewick moor, i was there 3 weeks ago and its spot on, trails are dry and it maybe overgrown in a couple of places but that makes it more fun for me not being able to see the trail ๐Ÿ™‚
