Stupid aussie/kiwi macho inbreds, innit!
Anyone remember that helmet cam video from a couple of years ago (I think) from somewhere in France (I think) where two guys absolutely tear past everyone?
Helmet cam guy should get some lessons from them.
Bruce, I was thinking of exactly that same video! Now if only someone on here could find it for us...
Ah-ha!
Now that's how you get past people, take no prisoners . ๐
The guy in front is a nob. The rider with the go pro is a smart arse shit who should have just stopped on that tight singletrack and given him space seeing as there were no other riders behind him....or finished what he helped to start by sticking up for himself and kicking the **** out of the old bloke.
I'm with the guy in front, he was giving it some, riding a hardtail with bar ends and v brakes and giving it some, smooth riding and looks like no braking, the other guy on a full suspension jumping around.
he should have ridden behind him and watched and learnt.
it looks like the guy in front let him go, then came in front of him again and was holding him off for a bit, and got pissed off with a back seat driver.
Love the cartoon. Is this national news in NZ then?
That looked like an amazing bit of trail. Shame it was spoiled by a couple of asshats.
They are both in the wrong. But the guy following could have done the most to avoid it. Yes, Fat Bumblebee should have let him past but the faster guy should just have dropped back when he realised the guy in front was determined to be a dick.
Asbo for the pair of them. Keep the trail clear of asshats for others to enjoy.
I thought the bumble bee bloke was the cock. It takes 2 seconds to wave someone pass, then no-one gets held up.
All those who are saying he should wait, what happens when someone else rides down the same trail whilst he's waiting, goes in front then he has two people to pass.
BKB in surrey is like this all the time, if you were forced to wait for every person you were faster than, you'd never get down it!
if you were forced to wait for every person you were faster than, you'd never get down it!
If I gave way to everyone faster than me I'd never get anywhere ๐
Anyone can be faster on a full suss, perhaps the guy with the helmet cam should get a hardtail, then he wouldn't catch other riders up so quickly.
Grim
PS I would love to ride that trail and I promise would I let faster riders pass!!!
amusing... surprised he didnt slap him halfway down were he rode into him for no reason? pair of idiots
Amusing video, thankyou! (I have nothing to say that hasn't already been said though)

News of this outrage knows no borders...
BKB in surrey is like this all the time, if you were forced to wait for every person you were faster than, you'd never get down it!
Rubbish! It's hardly that busy!
Both tossers. Love the cartoon!
Camera guy had it coming, bumblebee man stopped to let him past yet he deliberately stayed behind to provoke him. Could also have passed at several stages such as 1:32, or just stopped and waited for a minute. He was looking to antagonise someone slower than him and got more than he bargained for.
I know several people who've had ride along arguments on narrow sections of races when someone expects them to get out of the way. If the rider behind is that much better then he should find a way of getting past, or just stop and wait for a bit. Generally.
They should have passionately kissed imo.
Assault full video?
I want 5 mins 43 seconds of my life back. All I saw was a camera getting turned round and then a black screen.
Where's the antipodean fisticuffs all the comments promised?
having ridden nz trails and that is a narrow one, probably in origin a maori path falling off a hill in the shaky area of christchurch; if you are in front, you own the trail.
the guy with the camera was trying to barge past, he was lucky not to be thrown off the side!
Anyone who's ever tried filming someone with a gopro will realise that you have to get real (like dangerously) close to get good footage as the camera optics make the front rider look quite far away.
The rear rider must have been right on his wheel to get this footage.
Camera guy was too quick with repeat requests to get past when the front rider probably had every intention to let him through at the next opportunity.
I've had knobs like that behind me as well and its pretty irritating.
Glad he got owned and I'm sure he'll think twice about it next time.
As for the willy waving about the front rider's skills look at what he's riding compared to the very bouncy rear rider - I think he's doing ok really.
I think the rear rider got what he deserved. He could have walked away with a poke on his chest if he knew when to shut up.
Please keep the kiwi/aussie/colonial racist comments to yourself too people.
Someone has got to do a "THIS IS SPARTA" edit. Pleeeeeease.
Same old rubbish, guy behind refuses to accept any responsibility.
He should have hung back, there is no "right of way".
Guy in front could have easily given way a number of times without hindering his progress.
Both of them should have their bike taken off them and made to ride Raleigh Shoppers for the rest of their lives.

It's blindingly obvious; or rather should be.
Treat others with some modicum of respect, if you don't and the recipient is a gobshyte like yourself and bigger - expect a slap.
That sums it up well.
To try and add some kindness and pro-NZ feeling having just spent a few months in Christchurch...
That's the Flying Nun. It's awesome. Fast and smooth, with plenty of chances for gnarlcore, radsickness, or other special words for riding your bicycle in the air. Me and my $400 Hardrock loved it, and regularly embedded bits of ourselves on the rocks to prove it.
Chch has been very messed up with earthquakes recently, they're still happening, and it puts people a bit on edge. It's also resulted in most of the really good local Port Hills tracks being closed. So the result is that you get lots of uptight people who aren't used to sharing, and they're squeezed into <25% of the normal local trail network. Bee Boy had just slogged and sweated up tarmac and fireroad to earn his 5 minutes of descending heroism back to his car. It's the only (?) bit of reddish jumpy descent available at the minute.
So they are both nobs, but they and the situation they are in might be more unusual than you'd think. When I was there (last Aug-Jan) everyone
I met on a bike was polite, friendly, and encouraging.
Late to this but my two pence worth
The guy behind is much faster he visibly speeds up when he is free in the middle - how did he get back in front.
TBH if i was the one in front i would let him past if i was the one behind I would stop and get a good run.
No defence for the assault at that ed thouh whatever your vie wof previous behaviour and he was quite rude.
It's ChCh, everyone is stressed to te max. Pathetic from both of them really but not exactly a common occurrence.
Quite interested to see how this turns out.

Friend who is living in Christchurch area echoes DrDJpower's comment - he is seeing more aggro on the trails (and generally) as more people are stressed out.
Fat MAMIL needs to chill a fair bit, semi-gnar boy was silly but theres a fair line between being a prat verbally and taking a swing.
Not surprised at the support on this forum however given the fair demographic match ๐ Instead of raging he should join here and post self-affirming threads about how unfashionable his bar-ends/lycra/gearing are.
