Film away. RIPA does not cover private individuals.

Get a cheap trail camera. Try a google search bushnell trail cam. That would get some great evidence.

Photos and film are not required by law but do provide daming evidence. It appears his actions are intending to cause GBH. Police may be interested!

Get a pic of him and go to the police sayng he was exposing himself to your kids when you were out for a family walk, you can across him shagging one of his dogs. You fortunately managed to steer your kids away before they saw anything.

I doubt he would go to these woods again.

Ps might only work if you have kids!!!

We have tried to hide out and film him but [...] he doesn't appear

yeah I've found this, trail trolls don't show up on cameras...

there's a spot I ride with some guys which might be really boring, but all the logs make it more of an intricate challenge and help me hone my skills, maybe this guy's just wanting you all to be able to shift your weight on the bike more and be better riders?

If hes out walking a few dogs the dogs will get a sniff of you hiding in a tree or bush and wander over for a looksee = busted .
Get a compact camera with 20x optical zoom and photograph him from a few hundred yards away.
If one of you could 'borrow' a dog for lunchtime walkies , even better.
Get the Landowner to shove a 12 guage up his nose with a 'Get oorrrfff mooiiiiii laaaaaaaannnnd" , gets the point across nicely.

If you don't want to go to the police you can go to your Local Councils Anti-social behaviour officer - they will work with you, the landowner and the police to stop this - at the extreme end would be an ASBO which would stop him being in the vicinity (an ASBO may be civil law but breaking it is criminal) Is he letting the dogs dump in the woods? if he doesn't have permission then he can be done under the Dog fouling act. If he's a pro dog walker then chances are he is registered with the local council so they can have dealings on that side. Does he have permission to be carrying out his business (dog walking) on private land?
There are many ways to get a pillock like this without resorting to his behaviour and I hope you do get him. I hate ****s like this.

Thanks for info folks.I think i will put a WANTED poster up inc. what hes been caught doing, the fact he admitted to wire placement and hes a pro dog walker. Not to challenge but report if seen to local police station (inc num). If they can, photo or film him and to ignore his threats of RIPA fraud.

I rode through some baler twine strung across a bridleway this summer - fortunately with my height and speed it just snapped giving me a rope burn across my arms. If a child had hit it with less weight and speed and the twine at their head height it would have been a nasty incident.

I found a load of logs pulled across one of my local trails on Tuesday night. I imagine some militant walker saw the churned up 3' wide mess that is that trail segment and decided we should be stopped from riding down it because it's spoiling it for walkers. However, that trail wasn't there two years ago - we cut it in January 2011 so the only reason anyone can walk down it is because we MTBers made it! It's the same on another trail that suffered a stickman earlier this year - some years back we cut a load of trails down a long narrow coppice and nowadays children play down there, families walk down there and kids do outdoor adventure shelter building and related activities down there. But until we MTBers opened up a human-sized route through, no-one was getting to enjoy that bit of woodland.

As you've caught him in the act I'd report him now, before putting any posters up. His attempts to cause bodily harm through setting traps are criminal acts which should be taken seriously.

If he is a pro dog walker and using private property with out the express wish of the the land owner i'd guess he is on dodgy ground.

Also if when confronted again starts the i'm going to the police thing, say ok lets call them now.

10/10 for self control by the way.

Depends if it's a ROW surely? you ywouldn't need permission to walk on a footpath.

True, but you can't do anything on the land for commercial gain/reasons (Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000).

wrecker - Member

Follow him home. The next time you see him; recite his full address. Say nothing more, make no threats.

Better still, get a mate with a Norn Iron accent to say 'You still driving that navy blue 57 plate 1.6 Honda Civic*?' ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

*or whatever it is.

I'm not instinctively violent but that attitude of wanting hurt people, esp a boy, deserves it. He thinks hes above retribution. Assuming no one is looking. And you know what you are doing. And you think your hard enough!

Second the posters approach. No doubt he'll tear them down, but it might rattle him enough to leave you alone.

What would be even better is if you can get the police to take an interest, and then either add contact details for the investigating officer to your poster, or get them to put up their own posters.

You could get some aniseed and spray it about the track . Dog walker will be too busy to bother with the track.

Capture him, put a bag over his head and drag him deep into the woods. Then take his shoes and socks off, slice the soles of his feet with a razorblade then leave him to walk back. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ Or is that going a bit to far ? ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Aye,maybe a bit.I know some of the younger lads who'd do it ! I'm more of the law abiding 'nearly mid' aged kinda guy.
Just a reminder to all who ride down at Adel, the quarry is private land and the land owner does have rights. Please stay off that area and defo no digging down that end,please...we don't want to give the other prat any amo to fire at us.

Report him to the police, saying you saw him sexually interfering with the dogs, and that he asked if you wanted to join in. Just makes sure its at a time when he is there so independent witnesses may see his transport there. Any allegations that make it to public knowledge should do a fair bit of damage to his private and business reputations.

Pretty sure I've seen him parking in the Car Park by the jumps. I'm up most Sundays at that time. (Just use it as a good place to have a break on the XC ride). Ill keep an eye out.

Well done to the OP for remaining restrained upon hearing of the trolls satisfaction with injuring a child.
My reaction would have been excessive and illegal.
I really hope he is caught and charged with serious offenses.

Alsa.I think the dog walker may have gone to an all time low.
The council have been up at adel today and there have been complaints about exposed roots and potential harm to trees. Not sure what the council can do on private land ...? I also came across a man in his 50's last week on a 20 odd year old mtb..got chatting and all he did was moan about the under-cutting of tress and damage to roots.Short tubby with beard and blond graying curly hair. I think the evil fates of multi moron co-op are conspiring to flatten this place again.
Tree roots..really..c'mon is that all you can manage ?!

Build immediately if they do ! Fight the council. If anybody knows any thing go to ADEL WOODZ fb pg .

Digging around tree roots is bad practice, you'd be surprised how much damage it can do. Not saying they're right, but it's not completely ridiculous.

This bloke is a c of the highest order.

Tell the police, you obviously can give a good description of him. If a kid was really injured then they have to do something about it.

Failing that, hopefully one of the trees he's digging out will land on him and the dogs he walks will eat his face.

Nasty bloke, hope he gets what he deserves and it's fing painful. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

'Accidentally' crash into him and break as many of his bones as possible...obviously as a 'consequence' of trying to avoid his traps... ๐Ÿ™‚

tree preservation officers are the bane of my life...they have so many powers it beggars belief - in our neck of the woods they've made life easy for themselves by treating all trees as protected!! you need to get clever with the root situation - exposed roots under canopy, damage to roots larger then diameter of thumb are not allowed, if the trees are deemed 'of interest'. Sounds like your nemesis has got clever..what a $%&^

People are making this too complicated. There are two options. Legal and illegal.

Legal - document him, film him, report him, pursue a prosecution.

Illegal - take him for a little walk with a few mates and put him in the picture.

Both ways can work, both have their pros and cons.

I'd not use a chat forum to debate it if it was me TBH

Alas.Adel Woodz is no more it has been flattened this sad day.

However, after talking to the council blokes it seems the Dig2Ride lads have been telling porkies over land ownership and have also been less than polite to the Parks&Country officers. In short the build group were offered help as long as they filled holes in and minimised damage. Not a strong pont of this dig group. Alot of abuse has been thrown the councils way,it is their land and now,fed up with Dig2rides attitude have gone all JCB on Adels ass.Not only that but they're fencing it off.So, lesson to learn..don't listen to muppets with spades as they only bring these places down.Shame. Lee James and crew will you ever learn - you let the prats win.

Even worse...the D2R lot may be in serious trouble.
From what i understand their activities at Adel have been deemed criminal damage.
Not only have they misled riders like me but they've also given people like the corrupted Dog walker a big smile..he walks away job done.
Folk, always ask permission before digging on any land and be patient for an answer. Don't listen to fools with spades just because they can shape a jump and have a group. For crying out loud they could have got our kids into serious trouble !
Adel will now be monitored and futher digging will apparently result in immediate action and will be flattened. I notice its no coincidence that the Adel Woodz face book pg has deleted all damaging slander towards the council ( maybe they've realised the trouble they're in )

Man,no wonder Leeds gets nothing when wazzacks like this are representing the supposed masses. I'm just glad nobody got into trouble.
Stay Legal Stay Safe .

If they're fencing off the area the jumps were in they will still have to leave access as there's a public right of way from Adel Lane through to Crownest Lane(use it on my local xc ride). The jump builders will probably be back , it didn't take long for them to be rebuilt last time they were flattened(which was also because some gobby kids mouthed off at council officials).

if there is legal action it will be somewhat good as you can point it out to any bolshy trail builders that they are actually affecting everyone else...

Hey folks. Sorry to hear about your local riding spot being shut down. It just brings home how arcane and random our laws and accepted practices are.

The only real strategy I think works around me is semi-covert riding. One fence appeared giving off part of the local woods. Turns out this part was private property, but the landowner neglected to maintain any sort of fence, so it got ridden. Then everyone got excluded as a result. It is just so annoying that people own land they take no interest in and then all of a sudden wake up one day and decide to do something. Said land is now just completely neglected again.

IMPORTANT - Went down to Adel Woods today and two lads had started building again. The D2R lot have passed it on to them - NOT THEIRS TO PASS ?
So,feeling sorry for them i advised that they work with the council and be patient. They actually seemed to agree that the last lot of builders were out of order.
Along comes a guy on a white orange 160 alpine.Just glared at us , so i tried to strike up a conversation.Bad move ! Very hostile- i was advising working with council not against. He started to get very weird and threating so i walked off.
Bumped into a local dog walker who also rides and he'd been verbally threatened by this chap as had a few other walkers -all happens down here you know .
However, after futher investigation it seems this nob is on a one man quest to intimidate and i quote ' FK the Council loving MF bitches that got this place knocked down 4 times '
A couple of concerned parents who'd witnessed the odd carry on followed this chap back, all the way to Yeadon where they lost him.
He fits the description of a rider that has been accused of throwing stones at dog walkers and riding aggressively at them . So, if any one knows who this tosser is , who may live in Yeadon - could they either let Weetwood police station know or ID - drop it on here. One more thing, he seemed high, small pupils and twitchy.
Blue eyes, blond stubble,Monster decal full face helmet. About 175 -78 cm and 75-80 kg . Was down at Adel woods today at around 1 -1.30 pm

And they wonder why it keeps getting knocked down. Lord help us all !!

Interesting.
Cheers, I went up there saturday (running not on bike) and was gutted to find a muddy mess.

Dont know much about the situation but Ive since done some digging around (excuse the pun!) Ive voiced disappointment with the council and Im wondering where we go from here...

I never dug the jumps (sorry) but occasianally had a go riding and its a real shame they are gone.

Will keep an eye out for alpine guy

thanks
