Seeing as the postponed lakes trip now appears to nearly have been postponed rather than completely cancelled I was wondering what the conditions at Whinlatter, Grizdale and Newcastleton are like / likely to be like as Ms O_H_H seems very keen on getting out on her (new) bike. Mostly be on blues which I guess will be in part if not mostly surfaced (?). Hoping to get her out on to some reds (even if it's not a whole loop) but might have to wait for that if it's super slippery/death mud.

Was also going to try and do a loop around Derwent / Borrowdale that someone on hear recommended (on Fat tyres). Depending if it's not covered in snow...

Any updates or advice appreciated. Ta.

Without really knowing ..I would forget Newcastleton if we are talking about today ..too much snow around at Kielder and it's just on the other side of the hill ( so to speak ) ..but you haven't given any indication as to when you are going ...

Ah yes... driving up to just north of Keswick tomorrow with a view to strike out Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to preferably some trail centre type riding as Ms O_H_H is fairly new riding and I don't think is quite up to a proper lakes trail adventure in the snow...

You might be better off getting a weather report for Mabie / Dumfries & Galloway area..its usually a bit milder over that way..

Whinlatter center is open today, which is good as it was snowed in on Friday!!

The blue has some big diversions on it due to a big logging job, so it’s wirth checking that out before you go. The Red is open as normal.

As daft as this sounds to say.....it’s very very cold so wrap up!!

I think wherever we end up going riding it's going to be tights, I mean thermal leggings, and waterproofs!
