[Closed] Tow bar rack for dh and enduro weapons
sorry to ask, seems to be a lot on here when I search, but info is quite old.
I would like a 2-3 bike towbar mounted bike rack, that can handle at least two dh bikes or 2 Gnarpoon bikes .
I like the look of tiltable ones, although not sure if necessary. I have seen the cheaper 'Standard' towbar racks, but it looks like they may only fit traditional top tubes. Just wondering what is around for longer wheelbase bikes with wiggly frames
Any tips?
Thanks!
I have an older version of this

Easily fits two bikes and isn't too fussy about what shape they are. The bits the wheels sit in are looking a bit small for a 2.4 tyre on a 30mm internal rim but still doing the job
This one is a similar design but for four bikes and the picture is better

Look out for weight limits not only for the rack but also your car if sticking some weighty bikes on
Have a look on here Roofbox I've just been looking for a towbar mounted carrier and ended up ordering one of the Buzz racks carriers. Can't tell you what it's like as I only ordered it yesterday!
All the reviews look good though.
If you google search stw and towbar bike racks there's loads of older threads
I have a Thule euro ride, rigid bars clamp onto the frame, bit of a pain in the arse to set up with three bikes because you can not get 3 straight bars through 3 mountain bike frames, so i end up using bungee cords for the outer most bike. If i had to get a new one I would get something like the Inno wheel hold style.
I have a Thule euroride. It works well and carted 3 DH bikes around the alps this summer with no problems. I agree the arms might be a problem depending on the shape of bikes (I didn't have a problem once we worried out the optimum positions of bikes). The newer ones (g6?) look a bit more ergonomic. The tilt function is worth having for sure if you'll use the rack often.
We have an old Thule one. Had it for 10 years, think it may be a 9403 with the adittional 4th bike holder. Takes four big bikes easy. The newer ones have a bigger spacing between the chanels. Expensive but worth it.
Pendle Heavy Duty. No silly arms, designed for DH bikes and the like
Seconded for the Pendal heavy duty, designed specifically for dh bikes extra weight and bigger tyres.
Great bits of kit, never felt the need for a tilting one though I had folding rear seats so could grab bits if needed.
Thanks all. They are so expensive aren't they!
