Just a polite nudge to anyone who thought about entering and hasn't yet (mods - hope that's OK).
It's going to be dry and fast and we have some nice new sections and even less fire road.
Great spot prize draw for all starters. 101Km and 60Km options.

I'm signed up already and looking forward to it. Hoping the weather is similar to last year.

What's everyone riding?

Whatever you ride, large volume, fast rolling tyres will be best.

I shall be there riding my Cube Reaction 29er. I shall wear my khaki crimplene slacks as I'll be in the 60+ category.

I'm signed up again. Horribly unfit compared to last year so it's going to be a struggle, although not as much of a struggle as the Dirty Reiver.

Jonny, i'd go short travel full suss every day of the week. There is a rough section over the border that goes on for some time. Some of the folk on CX bikes last year looked really un-happy after it!!

I'm still to decide what to snack on whilst riding. Went with Cliff bars last year but found after the first one it was far too mcuh effort chewing on them whilst climbing uphill

I'm in again. Not as fit as last year (bearing in mind that everything's relative) so if I can repeat my 7-hour time, I'll be happy.

Bringing my 160mm full-sus again. Was glad to be on it last year - it might not have been the quickest by I enjoyed the fun bits so it was worth hauling it round. That's the point right?

Considered bringing a rigid, more CX-like bike but with flat bars due to lack of fitness but decided against it (see above point).

Black and yellow Nukeproof Mega, Volvo/Cannondale jersey with 90s colour scheme - that's me, say hi.

Dave

Another entrant here. Will be on ht 29er. Still have a bit of a cold and a fairly sore hand but am hoping both will have magically disappeared for tomorrow. Looks like heavy rain forecast too...still, am sure it will be fine

Saw on FB they are accepting entries on the day if there is anyone who doesn't want to miss out 😆

Bit sad to be missing out on it this year as it was surprisingly enjoyable last year. But I'm taking advantage of my spot prize that I won at the event tomorrow (a skills coaching day at Cyclewise @ Whinlatter - which I am sorely in need of!).

Did the 100 miler in 2012 and a 29er HT was the right choice.

Good luck to all entrants and remember to take a few spare brake pads - that place just eats them in the rain. Oh, and know how to change them, so you don't mess around in the rain, cursing your stupidity, like I did for 35 minutes in 2011. And then missed the final cutoff by 20 mins so it was all in vain and you had to go through the whole ordeal again the following year.

As above, let us know when you have a date for next year so I can get it in the diary (missing it this year to get married)

Good luck to everyone riding, don't forget your midge spray!

Remember folks the K101 is not the K100 from a few years previous, its a new beast.

Yep, I'm aware of that, and I'm interested to see how the route compares. I suspect that I'm not the only one who, having completed the K100, said never again. But if they have managed to fit in all the singletrack into a shorter route, and eliminate the long fireroad sections, then I might be interested.

But not this year, cos I've seen the forecast !

Not sure the route is out this year, not on the website anyway.

Found this on google, guess this years route will be similar but heard they got more singletrack in it again.

And you should know to ignore any forecast when going to Kielder, weather systems dont follow the same rules there. Just ask the people who got snowed on in the Dirty Riever, while everyone else was in the sun. If its says rain, bring sun-tan crème 😆

This is my Strava from last year: https://www.strava.com/activities/385930576

But I've heard there's more singletrack and less fireroad, so the route may be a bit different.

Sorry you won't be there Hannah, I'll have to find some other poor sod to bother to distract me from the urge to sit down at the side of a fire road and refuse to get back on a bike 🙂

I decided to have a year off racing as I was starting to not enjoy the endless winter nights on the turbo and the horrible nauseating feeling of standing on the start line, but I've really missed the camaraderie and banter of XC racing (and meeting wonderful people who'll happily tow me round 40km of the finest Northumbrian trails), so I'm sure I'll be back next year! 😆

Sounds wise, no point if you're not enjoying it. Not tempted by the Dirty Reiver next year? Talk me out of doing it will you? 😀

Well done to everyone who rode/raced. It did rain some and there were some insect bites, but I doubt there any brake pad dramas? Hope you liked the new start and off piste sections. Me and mrvear (from here) cleared the whole of the Scottish section of the course today (in warm sun) and found just 5 bits of litter. Next years date will be announced soon.

Nortwind - Is this you? It's a quote from a blog.....

I’ve seen the guy who does a passable impression of Hagrid’s skinny brother on a Nukeproof full Susser and we have a chat
