I am looking to lead a student expedition to do the Tour du Mont Blanc on mountain bikes and am looking for route info. There seem to be quite a few companies out there that guide this route (e.g. MBMB), but all seem to follow different routes. I'm trying to keep the cost down for the students so don't want to pay for a guide - does anyone have info on the best route to take (minimum walking) - ideally something like a Garmin download!
Thanks
If you are taking students on a tour in a region that you do not know then I think you need to have a guide with you. even if you juyst employ an a local qualified french guide from Chamonix which i am sure there are plenty
Friends did this last year, lots of hike a bike

Regarding having local guides - we are planning on pre-riding it as a staff team next year in preparation for taking a student exped the following year, so we will have at least 3 MBL's with recent local experience by the time we take the students. I'm just trying to get as much info as I can before we go out to recce it.
Thanks
When you say "lead a student expedition", do you mean students who are paying you, or students you are part of a club with and have tasked you with organising?
If they're paying you, you're probably going to need a guide. The TdMB goes through 3 countries and you'll need to check any qualifications you've got have equivalency. As one of the countries is France, equivalency includes (I think, best check or wait for more knowledgable poster) having your I.M.L. ticket, which not may cyclists have!
If you've just been tasked with organising, have fun!
