For those who are interested Billy Rice started his north bound ITT on the Divide today. Plan is to do the same as last year - ride up, then turn back round and ride down it again - 5,490 miles.
Apparently, he's doing the south bound leg with his daughter. Which is pretty cool.
Tracker is on Trackleaders -http://trackleaders.com/tourdivide15 - the grand depart is a few weeks away yet.
Watching the little dots is strangely addictive...
It'll now be a permanant part of my open tabs until the last TD rider finishes.
Don't forget the HT550 starts this weekend too: http://trackleaders.com/highland15
But we already have a thread for that over here: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/highland-trail-550-2015
I was just about to post the HT550 link, after reading the richpips' blog post about riding it with minipips ๐
So recent news, Jay Petavary, current course record holder, has announced he's going to toe the line again.
Two weeks after Dirty Kanza200 - he'll either be f'd, or in perfect condition. Things are now very interesting.
365 days to go. For me anyway ๐
Looks like a mixed bag of weather for folks. Lots of hot, which will lead to wind :/
5.5 hours until this kicks off again.

what do the different colour dots for the riders on the tracker mean ?
^ looks like some bad ass MFing rigid fork!!!
Blue - Group start Male Rider
Pink - Group start Female rider
Yellow - Individual time trial (ITT)
Orange - safety orange if a rider has scratched and is touring home
Can't beat blue dot tracking time. Always great to hear the corresponding MTB Casts too.
Someone asked about colours - looks like a slightly different annotation system:

So, six riders looking like they may go under the record time. two of whom are rookies. Womens record also looks like it may go, and I think the SS one as well?
JP and Neil B have been riding at the front for the past few days switching leads - supposedly JP has had a SPOT failure and hasn't updated recently.
Without a doubt some of the fastest racing we've ever had on the Divide and looking like it's going to keep going.
I've been following this years Divide like the Tour de France. Every time I look at the track leaders board the blokes at the front have done another 100 miles. Incredible riding.
It's one of the most impressive rides I've seen in the 5 or so year's I've been following it. Really stunned, they should be slowing down by now!
As a bit of a follower of the Gypsy by Trade blog, i'm rooting for Lael Wilcox to do well. Obviously a super-fit and strong rider...
looks like they'll get finished today, hope they've been practicing their sprint finishes!!
After Lael Wilcox's record breaking ride on this years race (including riding from Alaska), she's doing it again as an ITT right now. She is a hell of an athlete to do it once, let alone do it again a few weeks later. Yet again, she has ridden from Alaska and is now popping out 200 miles a day like it's normal!
Just incredible riding, and she's doing it in such a great style, sleeping rough every night and nearly always eating on the bike. And never showering ๐ She deserves huge respect for all of that.
Worth checking out more here: https://gypsybytrade.wordpress.com/
Incredible achievement here, Lael went and re-did the tour divide as an ITT not long after finishing the race, and smashed her own record and did it quicker than Jay Petervary's 2012 record, while riding 850 miles form Alaska to the start (she rode 1000 miles to the start of the race first time around!).
She's the fifth fastest finisher on the route ever (not including Mike Hall's time), and she did it in such a good way. Just superb...
