Why is there no sanction for the spectator who caused that first crash?

BBC are reporting that ASO are intending on suing her. Hopefully that will act as a deterrent to any other idiots...

Was it my imagination or did a rider hit that pole in the second crash?

He just missed it. Going at some speed as well when he missed it, so very lucky.

Are all those DNFs and DNSs as a result of the crash caused by the spectator?
That’s horrendous if so!

think it was 1 from the first crash, and the rest from the second.

I'm not even sure the woman who caused the crash was a fan, she seemed only concerned with getting on tv and obviously was paying zero attention to the race.

Stage 2’s thread will be up around 11am. Junior parkrun to be sorted first.

Thanks Lunge.

That list makes grim reading. I actually cried when Chris Froome went down.

Does anyone know how the cyclist spectator (wearing blue) is? He was standing watching when at least 5 pro riders land on him plus bikes. Awful.

I thought J.A was superb, what a great start for the Frenchman.

Is that list DNS or just injuries because Mike tenniusen still thinks he is starting today.....

🇫🇷 #TDF2021

X-rays haven’t shown any fractures @MikeTeunissen.

He's suffering some bruises and scrapes.

He will start tomorrow's second stage for another painful day on the bike. Heal well soon, Mike. 🤞

F…

That’s a grim read that list. Sounds more like an after actions report than a bike race..

If you mean the guy with the yellow cycling shoes he was up and hobbling around in the aftermath of the crash and didn't look in too much trouble.

And the mum mentioned above was back out of the ditch and had the kid in her arms and seemed to be quite calm.

Were the Slovenian demigods too busy farting around with each other at the end to mount any kind of challenge to Alaphilipe?

@klunk I’m not sure where you got your DNS list from, but I think it’s just a list of injuries rather than non-starters. Quite a lot of those riders are starting today, eg this guy:

I can't imagine for a moment either one of them wanted to be in yellow this early.

Yeah i read that list as 3x DNF and 1x DNS for stage 2.
The others are injured but will continue.
It’s a grim list, regardless.

BROKE BOTH ARMS AND FINISHED THE STAGE.

A reminder that these riders are hard as hell.

Lots of riders riding today with proper injuries and a lot of pain. Some won’t make it to the mountains. Sadly, I think Froome is one of them.

Phew, I knew she was arrested, but for a second I thought that read "Seems that she’s been found dead" and was really sad that the pressure had got to her
