Peak hopelessness today whilst not paying any attention.

Basically fitted a chain onto my tt bike, but after fitting chain chainset wouldn't turn. Was paying so much attention to why i assumed it had jammed on front mech i didnt realise I hadn't threaded it through the chainstay..end result was nasty grinding sound and my chain taking a gouge out the paintwork of the chainstay. Trouble is it's actually gone down to the bare carbon. The damage looks totally superficial, and the spot that's exposed carbon in miniscule. I'm 90 % sure it's just cosmetic but is it worth taking the sand paper to it to make sure carbon isn't damaged?

Pics below.. area of damage is tiny and if this was an mtb I wouldn't think twice about it..worth sanding?

Purely cosmetic I'd say.

Yeah, I'd happy ride that with zero worries.

Annoying though mate, feel your pain.

Wrap a chainstays protector round it and forget about it.
