Looks like we have a bit of a plan to go to Torridon at the beginning of April heading to Torridon and 2 of us are hopefully going to ride the "Classic" or the "Lollipop" which I think I can find plenty of info about.
I know it might be a bit early in the year to do it so would like some back up options of easier stuff & something for the *girls that don't fancy doing any hike a bike, both on e-bikes - can anyone help with what else is up there please?
Cheers 🙂
*I've tried to rephrase that to make it sound better, but have failed. Basically 2 couples going, other halves aren't up for such a big ride but still want to get out and about.
The obvious option would probably be the Kenmore - Applecross - Kenmore route.
You start at the community woodland location on raised ground overlooking Loch Torridon, where there's a layby. It's pretty obvious on OS mapping and even more obvious on the ground.
You basically head south, there's just one tricky rock feature on the whole route and it's just a few meters.
Drop down into the village for a break, return the way you came. It's a great, slightly mellower day out.
Check that either the Applecross Inn or the Walled Garden restaurants are open for lunch in advance. both are really good.
This trail holds up quite well in wet weather and has very few significant water bars, so suits a red designation.
Torridon to Diabaig and on to Craig Bothy. Return the same way.
Kenmore is belting and a good intro!
Ben damph descent is belting too
Watching this thread, I'm up in Torridon in 10 weeks time, got a week long guided trip but I'll have a few days beforehand locally to ease myself into the riding 🤣

Mrs_oab and I did this as a mellower day. It's lovely and very scenic.

Pretty unlikely to be snowy at that point.
Ben damph Loch Dampf
Wonder if the bitey snappy dogs are still there?

They weren't there last time I rode it. No one was at the fishery place at all
For anyone unfamiliar with the area, the Beinn Damph anticlockwise circuit is quite technical now. Years of use have had an impact on the trail surface down into the coire with the result that some of what was in the past a lovely flowing trail has become a fair bit rockier, more eroded and requires more skill to maintain flow.
That's not intended to discourage, just to highlight that it is a more challenging ride than either Kenmore or the Diabaig - Craig routes.
Starting at the pub allows for a pleasant trundle along a low track through the woods and then up to Loch Damph and its barkey dogs.
The lochside early phase along after the fish farm is always wet. Or under water, in really wet conditions but doesn't take long.
Finishing back at the Torridon Inn comes with its own pleasures.
Excellent info cheers all 🙂

Agreed.
I even posted a thread about the area not being what I remembered, with some really eroded trails.
Just back from an excellent couple of days, cheers for the info.
Lollipop done on Monday in stunning weather, the girls had a great spin around Beinn Damph. And on Tuesday I did the Coffin Road with them, nearly bailed due to the mental wind but persevered and South to North with a tail wind was *much* better.
I've kind of agreed to do it again with someone else in the summer, how do the other options compare to the lollipop - the Loch Coire Lair Path? The longer road section looks rubbish but I could probably get a lift to skip that 🙂
Not many photos of actually riding...
Cor Blimey.
The weather is always like that, right? 😁
3 weeks until I'm there. Woohoo! 🤪
Not been for a while I'm not fit enough for the lollipop currently but I love the place
did you get your Garmin .fit file fixed?
Edit: I see you did 🙂
Yep ta, it was the Coffin route I was trying to get off it.

I had to fix the Lollipop route too as kneeing the computer off its stem mount made it reboot as it hit the side of the frame. Luckily it saved the first bit and I could join the 2 recordings together!
Nice pics, looks like you got lucky with the weather. Hope it's like that when I head up with a mate last week of April. @ta11pau1 Sounds like we'll be there at the same time if you fancy meeting up for a ride?
Yeah, nah, looks rubbish.
😎

Yeah I'd be up for that - I'm stopping in the Tweed Valley from the 23rd to 27th April, then I'll be staying in Ardarroch from Thursday 27th until Sunday 30th, so Fri/Sat/most of Sunday free - then I've got a week on a guided trip Monday until Saturday so 5 days solid riding with the group.
Happy to meet up for a ride on the Fri/sat/sun though if you're still there.
Ah, sadly we're heading back on that Friday as my mate needs to be back 😕

Ahh, no worries. Don't use all the good weather up!
I would have been up there a few days earlier but wanted a couple of days riding stuff I knew (Glentress blue/red/black) and some mellow wild stuff (gypsy glen) before heading straight into Torridon. Plus it's a 12hr drive without stops so far too long to do in one day.
