Could anyone tell me if they think 130mm would be too much travel for a rockhopper or not...thanks
I'm not sure that the frame is designed to take that length of fork. They currently come with 80mm forks and you might put undue stress on the frame with anything too much longer.
Have Rockshox Reba 120's on mine....frame in theory good for up to 110mm on my looking into this prior to upgrade but works brilliantly with the 120's going down at least...general climbing not a problem, but a little light up front/twitchy on really steep uphills......an acceptable tradeoff for me in terms of the massive grin factor gained on the downhills....you just have to get your weight well forwards. 130mm might be just a little step too far for climbing practicality/change of geometry.....hopefully someone's tried it and can comment.
I run 130mm on an 08. its ace!
I run it at 100mm if climbing for a long time but can't honestly say I've noticed any major skittishness - its all about your centre of balance innit
Most forks can be adjusted to be shorter if required with spacers. I suspect 130 might spoil the handling but the only way to tell is to try it and see
130mm did not spoil my handling.
