Does anybody else think there is to much roadie content on here?
Isn't this supposed to be a forum for a Mountain bike magazine why cant roadie stuff be taken to a roadie forum. Do roadie sites suffer with their forums getting swamped in MTB talk?

What are people thoughts?

(oh, Im not a roadie hater, I own one and regulary ride it but this isn't the place for it)

All cycling, innit?
I have mtbs and a roadbike and a city/pub bike.
Why label people?

I'm honestly not bothered. i ride a mtb and a road bike and I like this forum so don't see the point of going elsewhere.

If the thread doesn't look interesting generally don't read or post in it.

No. this has come up before. I don't understand people's problem with it. Thread titles are usually obvious enough to be able to choose not to read if it's about road stuff

Couldn't agree more. TdF threads definitely outnumber WC Downhill.

Do you include drop bar 29rs? Or any 29ers?

don't bother me at all

TdF threads definitely outnumber WC Downhill

Possibly because the TdF is the worlds biggest annual sporting event?

Look at the stats at the top of the forum page. 53000 topics in Chat, nearly 100,000 in Bike and well over 1,000,000 posts in each since this forum was set up in Christmas 2009 just after the website got hacked. One of the busiest biking forums in the world, it's rare that a topic no matter how obscure goes unanswered.

There are plenty of roadie forums that struggle to get more than a dozen posts a day but you can actually pretty much follow a stage of the Tour on here, it's often just as good as the live feed! So people come back to it.

And hey, it's all biking. No-one is forcing you to click on a topic...

Yes, and all commuting and BMX topics can piss off to other forums too.

russ - I thought I'd have a look at your forum activity. Inactive might be unkind and pointing out that 60% of the topics started by you have been in Sales and Wants.

This place sort of exists on the input by the users. If you don't post much / anything / mostly sales and wants, then you are pretty much part of your perceived problem.

Better then these sort of threads.

It's a fairly childish attitude to take really. If you don't like a thread then don't open it. If you want more mtb threads then start some.

not enough roadie for me - there are no other decent roadie forums imo. Although with most roadies being in their mid 40's they probably dont know that the web is much use away from porn.

Maybe there should be separate mtb and road forums? I say not but I'm mostly roadie these days anyway.

Separate road forum would be nice IMO. I'd be happy to live there. There's more road talk on here than there is on most road forums anyway.

I wouldn't mind that, it might attract a lot more people to the forum.

But you'd need another section, otherwise it would put people off asking questions or talking about stuff like cross, bmx, unicycling, etc. etc.

It's a very relaxed forum here I think, which is why it's so good. Also I think that because everything is mixed together, you get people who see all the threads from a type of riding they don't do, and start getting curious.

Road.cc is the sister site to this place, but tumbleweed blows thru the forums compared to here. So might as well have this place as a one stop shop for all types.

Then a DH section.
An enduro section.
A women's section.
An urban section.
A track section.
An elite section... etc...
Nice to see you've found your level again Lodders.

Gents? Girls? Guys?

Oh and you need a section for the hybrid riders, don't forget those bad boys.

I don't think there's any call to start questioning folks sexuality..

There's more talk on here full stop than pretty much anywhere else that's cycle related isn't there?

Makes no sense to stick the road bike stuff in anything other then the bike forum.

And where does bmx/cross/track go? Monster cross? 29ers with drop bars?

And a car forum, and a tyre forum...

Mostly this place is a forum where most stuff gets discussed and MTBing is a common thing that most people do and probably brought them here in the first place.

It's all Cycling.

Are you just a Mountain Biker, or are you in love with Cycling?

I'll ride anything with 2 wheels and have MTBs, DH bike, CX bike, Road Bike and a hack.

Frankly, I think there's too much separatism in our sport. We're all cyclists.

Why do people want to classify themselves into a category at all? Is it to take on an identity? Is it because they're lacking something in their lives and need a herd to join?

I'm probably 60 - 70% riding on the road (road cycling / commuting / touring) 30% mtb'ing, so more 'roadie' stuff on here suits me.

As others have said, there isn't really any other forums which are as active (or as amusing!) as this one.

And anyway, I cycle on 'singletrack' roads a lot of the time, so it still counts 🙂

surely more relevant than folk discussing what cars or worse those ****ing watch threads.....thankfully the titles make it easy to ignore stuff you want to ignore...have you tried this?

Nice to see you've found your level again Lodders.

try one on women road cyclists who support Man U 😉

I'm all for more forums, can we have a ****s forum where I can hang out and just generally hurl abuse at everyone I don't like... ?

I'm not sure that an "I'm a miserable c forum" has any type of ring to it though. 🙄

I've taken my posting elsewhere lately, as I was clearly upsetting some folk here with my road biased posts. And admiting to wearing lycra seemed to confuse some men on here.
Road is usually 'big' over the summer. Come winter all that changes, that's all.

To be fair, the fat knackers that ride mountain bikes would panic if a few superbuff roadies starting taking over. I'm all for it.

no. I like bikes. I like riding bikes. one of my bikes is roadbike shaped that I ride on a surface that it will accommodate. The other bikes accommodate different surfaces and have different labels. It's all good healthy fun and all the same to me 🙂
