aye, a crackin ride down there tonight. The first lap was a bit stop start as I guess there was nearly 50 folk out, but the trail seemed well thought out, if a bit weather sensitive. For those of us who went round again it was absolutely brilliant - fast and flowing and gave a really nice feeling of the contrasting bits of trail, which all knitted together really well when riding in a small group with very few stops.

Hope the guys who had the big stack is okay.....

Great ride, great course. It's not a muddy field course although a couple of sections will get muddy if it rains and you add a few hundred pairs of tyres going over them. There are a couple of great descents which will catch folk out. Big up to Neil Walker and the guys from LES and the Wise Group who have pulled the course together. It's not the final Commonwealth Course but from what I saw and rode, it's a great venue for a race and will be a real tester. Definitely benefits from riding a full susser over the rocks and roots.

I reckon once it has seen a bit of action and the trail gets more defined and bedded in it will become a right wee gem of a trail -)

I was pleasantly surprised that the only real group of locals we came across (at a ramshackle hut/buckie bar in the NW corner) were actually pretty jovial and friendly. I guees it's important that we try and keep them onside by continuing to exchange pleasantries wherever possible -)

We nearly got in a scrap with some bams and their bull terrier that decided to attack a dog belonging to one of our group ๐Ÿ™„

When we advised them their vicious dog should be on a lead, they pointed out, quite correctly, the "no mountain biking" signs โ“ Quite bizarre that the site for this Sunday's race and the Commonwealth Games is littered with "no mountain biking" signs.

Anywho, we didn't do the race course but we messed about on some steep bits, some drop offs, dodged the gays and generally had fun.

๐Ÿ˜†

A bit of both. We went flying down a steep field with waist high grass, terrified we'd run over someone *resting* in the grass
