Crikey - he's fast. I was clenching just watching it....

Appreciate its roadie, but 1. It's Tom Pidcock and 2. SAFA does some nice gravel and MTB stuff so I think deserves a pass. 🙂

Lovely recovery from clipping a pedal.

That's rapid. Would love to see Pidcock against Mohorič in Milan-San Remo. Get the lad a dropper.

Terrifying.

I don't understand how the guy behind with the camera keeps up though. Even if he had electric assistance, it still needs as much skill as Pidcock to keep up.

I thought the same, then looked him up.

His whole YouTube channel is based on descending videos. Plus he knows the road super well and they said it was a headwind. Slipstream has a pretty substantial effect at those speeds. Not that most mortals would keep up through the corners mind!

That bit where he almost nails himself at the start..😳😳

I’d have either been flat on my arse, or by some miracle I’d kept upright, slowing to a snails pace as all my confident drained from my body…

That said, the difference in talent between the way he descends and the way I descend is pretty much similar to the gulf between how he goes uphill and how I go uphill. So I assume he knows what he’s doing

I reckon I'd be faster downhill. I mean, I'm at least twice as heavy as he is!

That was the best cycling video I've seen for ages, thanks for sharing.

Brilliant vid, I was uncomfortable watching it and relieved when they reached the end. Amazing skill and confidence

It is infectiously good that isn't it?! Been watching a few of his other videos as well and I remember one cropped up on here recently, riding a descent through the desert.

This one is stunning - just beautifully shot, the whirr of the freehweel, the sound of the wind. It's all it needs!

I was in Spain a few weeks ago but had really only just started to get the hang of the long descents, trusting my tyres etc (and some of the roads in the mountains had small patches of ice, it needed care) before it was time to fly home. I just want to be out riding roads like that!

As an aside, I always loved this one of Fabian Cancellara. SO smooth:

That’s one of the best biking vids I’ve seen in ages. That slip early on would have been enough to slow me to a snails pace all the way down.

Scary fast all the way down that road. Tom Pidcock is a bit good on a bike.

I was told that the guy following (with a camera!) holds the KOM for that stretch of road. I’m also guessing they closed the road or had a spotter somewhere because meeting an oncoming car wouldn’t have been fun

It's a one way road, you can see it painted on the carriageway as they descend. Still need to be sure you don't meet a car going slowly though...

Yeah bottom half is one way.

KoM run, 42 seconds quicker...

I was chatting to a DS once who told me how, when he was following a rider on a descent in the team car, he'd drop a gear or two so the engine revved super loud, psyching the rider up into thinking they're going even faster than they are.

Awesome! Exactly how I descend (in my mind's eye at least 😂)

Looks like a fun descent, decent gradient so you wouldn't be hard on the brakes too often, although T.P. was barely off the pedals! I bet I would have been knackered half way down at that rate 🙄

Great fun.

It's a good long descent!

There's a good one near me that includes a cattle grid (just before a corner on a 20% gradient), gravel stretches, speed bumps and two-way traffic. It's addictive and fast. So many opportunities to stack it.

KOM is held by a local ex-World Superbike racer. I'm in the top 10 but i'm not sure I want to go any faster!!!
