I have a 3 series touring with Thule wingbars and associated fitting kit to the rails. When fitting there doesn't seem to be a way to lock the position of the feet to the bars so that when they are removed that remain lined up. So, every time I have to refit there is an element of faff whilst they're all lined up again. Am I missing something or is that just the way it is?

Used the plastic slider (with measurements) to fix the position along with the plastics trim that is supplied (this needs to be cut). This will hold the feet in place. If they get knocked then the slider will move but its easy to set back to the correct place.
Ah, so that's what the plastic trim was for. Do you leave that fitted or just use to set the distance?
Leave it fitted.
