Actually - just watched for the third time, and apart from the slight sarcasm, you were vocally quite restrained until the guy had moved on. Probably all square at the end of it.

Still loved to watch the skills on show.

problem is what some of you gentler folk see as rudeness, up north we take it as a friendly greeting

Thing is though Ton, you lot are southerners to me and I do swear so I'm not prudish by any stretch of the imagination, I probably swear too much, truth be told, but I just found the comments to the runner, after he'd apologised, a bit OTT.

Yeah, but what did the runner actually say/do to deserve any abuse at all? Is this a "you had to be there" thing or something?

Great riding, great trails...

'Unnecessarily rude' is kind of Ironic is it not?

The runner might be a c0ck, but you have done a great job of making yourselves look like c0cks at that point.

Complaining that someone "spoiled your descent" on a public right of way isn't going to win over many to the cause.
I ride down the stanage plantation and its a hoot but I also walk up it with the wife and kids and if half a dozen macho blokes came tearing down I would expect them to at the very least slow down when passing walkers, if not stop completely, it's not wide enough to pass people at speed.
The gates tend to spoil the flow of the descent quite a bit also. ๐Ÿ™„

I think it's all fine for you to slag us off because of how we spoke to the runner, but in all fareness, you wer'nt there and did not have to witness the abuse my fellow riders got from him, which is not caught on camera unfortunatly. This was why we got the camera out at the bottom, and yeh we were pissed off! He nearly knocked a rider off and was addament it was a footpath! This is happening all too much lately and tbh the sooner they open footpaths to all the better! Walkers never use to have a right untill they protested, it's about time we did, we cause just as much errosion as they do at the end of the day, i really do get annoyed when it bothers walkers so much! There's so much more to worry about in life than a cyclist riding a footpath, or perhaps people are just too cushed up in there own nice pleasent comfortable lives to not have anything more than that to worry about! Peace out! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great video...thank you for posting it. Never a good idea to fight rudeness with rudeness, politely taking the moral high ground is a far better approach ๐Ÿ™‚

GW to be fair there's nowt in that video that is steep apart from the quarry line( big **** off drop to the right) and maybe another one, which are fairly steep,.but on the other video's there is some proper steep stuff, but alas our dummy compact camera's dont do the lines justice.one of which is Parkin Clough or some steep ones in Hebbers and the Peaks and Wharncliffe.

cheers for the positive vibes on my shabby video editing and our filming skills. But music goes a long way in a video, somet that lets down alot of videos i say.

Superb riding, great skills. Not getting into the politics in this case. I walk too and have owned dogs, but was thoroughly pissed off in the Welsh Marches this weekend, by the woman with the small dog on the 60 foot lead who was shouting about where my bell was. I slowed to walking pace as I passed them, before putting the pedal down again. Good and bad in all camps I reckon.

Haven't a scoob who's in the right or wrong, why would anyone think they can judge with absolutely zero context? Get a grip people.

Nice to see some of that fabled Northern friendliness. ๐Ÿ˜€

If only folk everywhere were as polite and tolerant of one another.

Unfortunately several people were nice and cheery and said hello to me and Khani in Epping Forest today. ๐Ÿ™ Terrible. What's the World coming to, eh? ๐Ÿ™„

Wel I like the vids, and they seem like a good bunch. It's good to see people laughing and having fun on their bikes.
Nothing wrong with calling someone a dick if they're acting like a dick.

"we cause just as much errosion as they do at the end of the day"
On stanage I'd think it could be less, walkers walking around the (lower, plantation) slabs, (many?) mountain bikers trying to ride all the slabs?

"I'm missing something here - where's the bit in the video where the runner has a go at the riders? "
I thought the first (quite muffled) line of conversation/insult was the runner, though I could well be wrong?

I've walked down the middle-ish bit of the video before thinking to myself how would I ride this? How bigger bike would I 'need'? Now I know how its done (by others)
I enjoyed the watch

eyesss said it once eyesss say it again! great video, looks like great fun and some good riding skills going on by all taking part, it WILL be steeper in the flesh than the vids will show, ive seen some of the stuff up there and it isnt flat or just a bunch of flat rocks, i know a few guys ive ridden with certainly wouldnt attempt them!

its as much yours as it is theirs! sometimes you can be as polite as possible, it only takes one further comment/tossa to send you over the edge from being polite/courtesous/benefit to just saying 'your a cock' walkers on paths, mtber's on paths, dicks at work, dicks on a football pitch it happens everywhere.....

keep on riding in the free world boyzzzz i'll always appreciate your challenging rides on cheeky stuff, i mean GOD CREATED IT FOR ALL OF US TO SHARE!

AMEN 8)

The first bit you see of the runner was after the confrontation.
I was fiming it further down the track and was'nt even aware of what went on.
The abuse we got from him was halfway down the top bit of the track, where he was addament it was a footpath, caused a right stink about it and nearly causing a fellow rider to fall off as he would'nt let him pass.
I don't think the video does it justice as it does look like we're being aggressive towards him and he is apologetic, but by that time he'd pissed us all off with the way he went about it.
Why are people so bitter towards mountain bikers! ๐Ÿ™„

I like your vid's there's a kind moto trial's vibe going on, mate's standin round watching each other have a blast at the section's.
In all fairness the runner was a bit of a bell, if some guy stopped me or my team and told me i/we shouldnt be somewhere i had a right to be i would tell him to p-off too.
