Anyone got one? Are they ok? I am interested in coverage and how well the venting works.
No one got one?
Been looking at these myself, reckon for £40 it's worth a punt.....
Would be nice to see it a bit better before taking a punt.. ok, its only £40 but if its hot and not very comfy its£40 that could have been spent elsewhere..
Distance selling regs mean you can get it to see.
And if after riding it, you hate it, send it back with my name on it and I'll make sure you get a full refund.
What helmets?
One of the considerations for me when choosing a helmet is - are replacement pads easily available?
To what safety standards have the they been tested?
http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/HEOOEPH/on_one_enduro_pro_helmet
I assume?
I'd want to see more than one angle of it before I clicked the button! Not sure buying from on one with the expectation you might have to send it back is a good idea.
To what safety standards have the they been tested?
To meet European retail standards I presume,
To meet European retail standards I presume,
Sure. I'd just like to know which standard it's been tested to. After all, I'm buying it for my safety. I'd be a bit of a dick if I didn't know the level of protection it offered me!
[i] I'd just like to know which standard it's been tested to. I'd be a bit of a dick if I didn't know the level of protection it offered me! [/i]
Do you know what all the standards are and how they differ?
Do you pick a helmet because it only passed Snell or whatever tests and failed the others, or vice versa?
It's illegal to sell a helmet that doesn't meet EU standards.
I have no idea what those standards (or any others) are or how they are measured but I'm prepared to accept that On-One do and have ensured compliance. Same as they do with their frames.
It should be tested to (BS) EN1078 if it's not send it back, and contact trading standards...
TBH though just because they're relatively "Cheap" doesn't mean they are inferior to pricier helmets in terms of impact protection; EPS is EPS, you tend to pay more money to get less weight and more holes (vents) so that £100+ Giro/MET/Bell/KASK/POC/etc is probably no better at protecting you in an accident...
I'd not looked a the On-One/Planet X lids before, from the pictures their "Trail Sport Helmet" looks a bit more aesthetically pleasing IMO, and at £20 I'd consider giving that a punt...
TBH I'd been tending towards the cheap and cheerful UNi-size Giro models lately and have yet to die as a result... so a cheap and cheerful on-one branded one would be worth a try I reckon.
TBH I'd been tending towards the cheap and cheerful UNi-size Giro models lately and have yet to die as a result...
This^ The £22 Giro unisize Indicator I got fits well, is comfy and better vented than the Xen it replaced.
They look special needs in my humble opinion.
It's much better to spend a little bit more and have something you like.
The item descriptions aren't very 'descriptive'?
Before ordering I would want, at the very least, a description of the fit system accompanied buy some detail pics.
It's a MTB helmet that is light and has vents doesn't really cut it IMHO.
I like the look of the Trail helmet but another angle of view would be better before actually deciding to buy. What a hassle sending it back would be???. Just present it better on your website.
Mrs Yak has just ordered a Trail one after some damage to her old giro one in an crash last w-e. At £20- seemed worth a punt. Will report back once it arrives and gets ridden.
Cheers Brant- just thinking a few different views on the website would be good- side/top/rear views.. and poss one showing the inside with straps and retention adjustment. £40 does seem a decent price and having bough on-one stuff before I dont doubt the quality or value but I'd just rather see a bit more of it before I'd buy it.
I am looking at buying one of these too but would like more pictures to make my mind up please brant
I think more pictures wont make it more attractive.
You can't polish a you know what and all that.
They've used the best profile they could.
The helmets will very likely sell out, with the current descriptions and photographs. If On-One pay someone to take more photos, write more description and add it to the website, they'll probably have to put the price up.
I like that they're proof that adding Enduro to the name or description makes it twice as expensive 🙂
if after riding it, you hate it, send it back with my name on it and I'll make sure you get a full refund.
Goes off to buy Pink glitter to put the name on the helmet.
The Giros on that link are a good price
I like the look of http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/HEMECAMEU/met_camaleonte_executive_urban_helmet for my short commute. Save my decent helmet for proper rides.
Might look a bit like this??

The bloke selling them comes on here saying you are welcome to try it and if you don't like it send it back. He even said try it on a ride, and yet most here have still found room to moan? 🙄
Sounds very, very good to me...
Good skills Mr On-One.
No moan, merely asthetics. Thats all.
Still, same applies surely?
Good offer I'd say.
(Though I agree, that more pictures should be on the website...) 🙂
.They look special needs in my humble opinion.
Bit harsh. But then again, a lot of middle aged mountain bikers kitted out in all their gear for a couple of hours mincing around look a bit 'special'! I get quite embarrassed by some of the sights I see up on the hills hoping I don't look like that!
Good on on-one I say. UK sold helmet (so complies with all safety tests and warranty backup) for a reasonable price. Just what is needed in a market with overpriced stuff.

I'm not sure I'd be to comfortable wearing a helmet called cameltoe. 😡 😉 😆

+1 - I do need a new cheap "Trail" type general MTB helmet TBH it's a 3 way toss up between the OO "Trail sport", a Giro indicator for a couple of quid more elsewhere, or maybe one of the 2011 Rifts OO are flogging for £25...
I know either of the Giro's will fit and it's only a fiver in it, but if the OO lid has better rear coverage and looks OK I'd be happy to take a punt I think, I just want to see a couple of other angles (maybe someone wearing it for abit of scale?)...
Come on, work that sales magic! Dance for my meagre £20 or I'm off to CRC!!*
(*I'm not really off to CRC, their website is still cack, prices are no better, so I'll probably just buy the OO helmet and see how I go)....
I'm fairly sure from the pic that the OO Trail Sport has better rear coverage than a Giro Indicator. That's what I reckoned anyway, then ordered the OO. Hopefully here tomorrow, so i'll find out.
Comments about content/words/pics echo what we thought earlier, and someone is working on some better stuff.
They are all tested to the EN standard.
As for the look - some trail helmets do look a bit odd. Someone pointed out the "screaming face" on a POC helmet to me once, and I can't see past it now (like the FedEx arrow).
Right. Off to find something in China to eat.
Nothing wrong with the look of this helmet!?!? It looks like all the rest.
Thanks Brant. Could you give an outline of the testing procedure and how your helmets faired in the tests. As it's a piece of safety equipment I'm more interested in its test performance than how it looks.
Interesting, do you ask other helmets manufacturers the same questions as well?
Genuine, BTW, I just buy on looks pretty much, I assume ( perhaps naively) that they need to conform to the same standards, certainly fallen any number if times and I'm still here 🙂
Haterz gunna hate..
Would this helmet receive so much love with "superstar" written on it?
[i]Could you give an outline of the testing procedure and how your helmets faired in the tests.[/i]
how do you find out how all the other helmets you buy have been tested, surely you don't ask the frame designer?
anyway I did a quick google on your behalf and found this;

I dunno, this thread seems overly cynical to me! Hard to imagine a new £40 Giro helmet getting this much of a grilling!
Thanks Brant. Could you give an outline of the testing procedure and how your helmets faired in the tests. As it's a piece of safety equipment I'm more interested in its test performance than how it looks.
Does it really matter? Plenty of helmets out there will be made to just scrape through the tests (IIRC some road and XC helemts are actualy different between markets to maxiise venting/weight savings depending on the test). And the odds of you having a crash that exaclty replicates a EN or SNELL are slim to none, and then what happens if you have a EN crash and you've bought a SNELL helmet, you're dooooooommmmmmmeeeeeeeddddddddddddd. And that's before you suffer a "TJ special" (aka rotational injury).
Or you could do what the EN standard is designed to do, and let someone else figure out what's safe, and if it is, give it a sticker saying it is.

I would of thought it was fairly evident how they faired in the tests.
They passed. They're on sale.
One one are so good at advertising.
It costs them nothing.
Very clever.

What's up iolo?
I/we seem to niggle you.
He's the ad sales guy for MBUK...
Thanks wwaswas. I ask Brant as he's a representative of OnOne products on here and usually, helpfully, answers questions regarding their products.
I get the impression some of you find it an odd question. Would you find it odd if I asked about the NCAP safety rating if I were buying a car? I suspect not.
If you're buying a motorbike helmet, you can look at http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/ for a comparative evaluation of the helmets performance in relation to various forms of typical simulated impact.
Can Brant or anyone from OnOne give an outline of the testing procedure and how your helmets faired in the tests?
I take my protection seriously.
Darkside, I've been rumbled. Damn you
Bike CEN isn't a comparative test, it's a pass or fail so you can't compare with SHARP (which is, in any case, shit) or NCAP. How did it fare? You already know.
car and motorbike safety is one thing, push bikes entirely different thing.
each to their own though
[i]I get the impression some of you find it an odd question.[/i]
only odd insofar as it's a pass/fail test. The o-o helmets passed but you seem to want more, I tried to link you to a site with more specific info on the tests and I'm sure google would provide more about the testing regime. I expect on-one just buy a helmet that's passed and don't worry about the detail of what happens, same as a lot of other people would and do.,
I just wondered what additional information you had from whoever you bought your current helmet off so that brant would know how much detail you were expecting from him.
Tbh, it felt like you were asking a general question about how the tests were carried out and what was measured rather than a specific question about brant's helmet (so to speak).
re: NCAP = I would look and see if a car had n stars but what tests they actual represent the results of and how that might reflect in my day to day usage of the car I'd have no idea about. I wouldn't expect the bloke who designed the engine to know the detail about the air bags, either, tbh.
So I should just worry about the colour and ignore how much damage limitation it might provide?
I think you need to decide if you trust the European safety standards and either buy a helmet that meets them or not.
Oh my. With my shonky Chinese web connection I have only just got onto our site and seen there is zero content on the helmet details. I think we have had a web sync glitch and am trying to get it resolved.
Thanks brant
By the way how did the food hunting go? I used to go to china a lot, I really struggled with the food.
Food good. Even for my vegetarian boss.
Sleep less good.
Lots of pics of the helmets on the website now.....

I agree with AJsMonkey! 😀 The On-One Enduro looks the same as the O'Neal Orbiter. I wonder if O'Neal will be hounded for crash test dummy data as well! 😆
The O'Neals (formerly Azonic) I see selling for $90-105 here in the US. The On-One is $62. So did On-One they cut corners? I don't think so, they just cut levels of distribution (middle men).
Example (costs made up, but not unreasonable):
On-One buys a helmet for $35; sells for $62; say $10 is profit, $17 in costs for warehousing, website, packaging, and other overhead costs.
O'Neal buys a helmet for $35, and has similar overhead costs to On-One so sells it to a wholesaler (like QBP or BTI) for $62. The wholesaler costs (including shipping) and profit mean a markup of 25% when they sell to the retailer for $77.50. The retailer also has shipping and overhead costs and wants to make a profit, so marks it up another 25% to $96.87 at retail. Which is about what they sell for in the US.
That O'neil helmet looks alright but a bit steep- has it been crash tested? 🙂
Trail Sport helmet has turned up now.
Looks good and fits Mrs Yak's head fine. Not ridden yet though.
For some reason buck rogers sprung to mind, but maybe that's because she's used to more xc/road type helmets and this gives a bit more coverage.
What are the straps like? Are they fixed to the sides like a zen or do they run loose up the inside of the helmet?
Loose then fix at halfway up the inside at between the lowest and 2nd row of vents. The rear ones fix towards the bottom at the black downwards pointing triangle.
Flick up a pic Yak?
Ta Yak, I hate rats nest straps..
here you go
try again - oh flip - what have I done wrong?
edit - bingo!

Thanks! - I had the bbcode and the html mixed up 😕
Hmm, looking at Yak's photos, it certainly is an interesting colour for a lid. What would inspire such a choice by O-O?
hmmm - my pics have made it seem purple.
In reality its dark grey with lighter grey patterns. If anything the dark grey has a hint of brown in it.
The new details for the lid made me chuckle! STW forum designs OO web page. Love the 'lots in stock'!
I thought more would have picked up on it really.
"Lots in stock" Really?
I've had it with On-one - no offence Brant, whilst I appreciate your input on here your office couldn't organise an alcoholic imbibing in its place of origin.....
Placed yet another order yesterday morning and only now received an email, with no name attached " apologising for your inconvenience, Unfortunately we have been experiencing technical issues with our website recently and stock levels advertised on the website have not been updated correctly. As such, we have over-sold on many ....blah de blad, de blah......"
Apparently ONE item in the order I placed was out of stock so they cancelled the WHOLE ****IN ORDER!!,!
"The website has now been updated correctly. We have cancelled and refunded your order in full so you will be able to place your order again with the correct stock levels available.."
Great! I'll just wait a week before I see the cash back in my account, then place yet another order for the items I want and then sit there wondering if it's actually going to go through...
This has happened on the LAST THREE orders I've placed.....
Sorry Brant - my money for 5 helmets and the rest of the stuff has gone to Wiggle.
Noted. You have mail.
Also looks a lot like these ones..
