Ian, you need a cross bike!
Ian ^what he said^.... ๐
Mick, you need a drink. Selling bikes?? Don't be silly!
you may be right claire congrats too btw ๐ that first ride i did with you up at otley my mrs was pregnant and now the little one is three . How time flies ๐
Yup defo pour that drink. For what it's worth, what I'd be thinking is, do I really need the space and/or the money. If so then it might be worth it. If not then keep them. I have a superlight that I rode constantly for the first 4 years then accumulated other bikes and have hardly ridden it at all for the last 2 years. Wouldn't sell it though cause I'd never recoup its worth (to me!) and it's still a great bike, that I know I will ride more again. As if to prove my own point a frame that I had hanging on the wall for a few years recently got rebuilt into my commuter and it's like having a new bike again! Sit tight and let it pass - if the urge comes back then maybe it's time to act! ๐
Down to my dialled albert with a nice build and my bmx which may also be going soon.
Sold all the other stuff to fund my new business, however could do with a company bike as a demonstrator but am holding off as the cash could be used for staples, paper and data loggers and stuff like that...
Yep, just done the very thing, wasn't easy though. Up till now i've been using my cheapish hardtail on most local rides to avoid using my other 'best' bikes (to save cleaning and component wear).
A recent health scare has put pay to this very anal behaivour! For a while I didn't know if i'd be able to continue to ride, and all I kept thinking about was how I hadn't had enough use out of my favourite bikes (a Ti hard tail and a 5 inch full susser).Complete madness, I now ride my ti hardtail all the time locally and just hose it down when i've finished, sod component wear. I use the full susser on the tougher days out, two's enough - keep and ride your favourites cos your a long time dead. ๐
Got 2 Hardtails and one Roadbike.
Thought about a cull, and in fact since spring is around the corner I might think about it again, cos there's bound to be someone that wants the cheapest possible hack/commute bike.
But I know if I flog ye olde worlde Scott MTB and the purely archaic 14sp 531c roadbike, that I'll spend the money on a FS and CX bike to fill the gaps in the storeroom.
I have culled from 9 to two. And you know what? I don't miss them I have two bikes that I ride and enjoy. One is a rigid SS. So there is never a question over what bike what travel etc.
The other is a Surly Cross Check for Road CX and touring duties does the trick nicely, a quick tyre change and I am sorted. I am just building up a beater for use around town etc and I have a shopper at work for jaunts in to town at lunch, but otherwise I do not miss the deliberation or the waste of bikes just sitting unused and unloved.
see thats part of the problem too tommid i love the ragley but would like the ti one so id need to raise some funds. now i have a lovely ti sabbath roadie with full dura-ace but its great as take rack and guards too. but then the surly can do road/guards/rack/cx and even has 1.8 29er tyres for monster cross . so which to keep
then there is the surly karate monkey its ss or geared so could fill a hardtail but if i had a ragley ti i could always ss that (tho i wouldnt)
then theres the 5 spot i just dont use that so i could prob loose that but then a big ride in the dales i may be begging for 5" of rear squish
oh i dont know . i guess i could keep em all and use as and when or i could make some nice money keep the crosscheck some spare wheels and get a ti ragley with rolhoff
bah i dont know ๐

I know, I know! But that genesis thing was so orange and strangely attractive that I had to buy it! It is good, but I probably should have bought a kaffenback or maybe even a proper cx bike. [heads off to classifieds with cunning plan...]
Had 6, went down to 4, felt great, and then saw a lovely Singular in the classifieds ๐
Got my lot down to two a 5 Spot and a Cx bike and went up to 6 and now back to 4 (1 of which is in bits).
Turner 5 Spot
Kona Major Jake
Sanderson Soloist
Curtis Freeride (the one in bits )
Although I keep looking at my SS ad thinking if I'm ever going to ride it despite buying bits for it on a regular basis.
I'm gonna take it to Woburn this weekend to see how I get on with it (either I'll love it or it'll be on the classifieds on Sunday night)
