That patch of soggy trail is much much deeper than I thought .
Winter boots and gloves hold stinky cold water really well .
Hands and feet covered in cold water get bloody cold quickly .

There is a reason why tubs are popular in cyclocross.

Riding a steep descent with wooden rungs and no air in the front tyre is not for the faint-hearted.
