So why was Thetford forest not included in the latest MBR trail centre guide then?
Singletrack has Thetford in its list of trail centres and MBUK gave the beater trail (the old red) a glowing review and praised the work of TIMBER the trail building group.

For that matter why is Wenlock Edge a trail centre when Hurtwood in Surrey is not?

Must be some sort of elevation criteria ?? Ie a trail centre must have some

So Thetford is good enough for the winter series racing, dusk til dawn night race, mud sweat and gears, mbuk, and singletrack but not mbr or apparently terry...
...i've got a great uncle who is 84 and he can only ride a bike downhill now too.Quite sad to see.

You seem to assume that these kind of "guides" are more than a Friday afternoon rush job to hit the print deadline.

Has the old red route had some work done on it then? My lad loves riding at Thetford.

Also I would assume there were some phone calls to the shops/owners asking if they wanted to place adds in their up coming guide....

Who gives a shit about trail centres ? The peaks aren't a trail centre, since when has Monthly Boring Reader had any form of say in where to ride ?

Apart from the MBR Trail of course, ๐Ÿ˜ณ

i drove to dusk till dawn once - believed all the hype about thetfords awesome flowing singletrack

was bitterly dissapointed - i have woods like that near my house with similar trails(formed by walkers) that also didnt make the trail centre guide.

FWIW i also live on the cusp of the cairngorms so maybe im spoilt with great natural trails to ride up and down;) - out of curiousity did pitficie make it .... it meets the elevation criteria but has been over sanitised.

Aye - trail_rat is rubbish at riding up and down hills. Thetford would suit him. ๐Ÿ˜€

Is it a place to go to experience the ride of your life? No.

Is it is place to ride to prepare you for the ride of your life? Maybe. I like Thetford Forest. I can ride around the lovely red trail, or the many unofficial trails over the road, and have enough "brain time" to actually think about my riding technique etc etc. I *think* riding there makes me a better rider when I go to the Dales or the Peak.

Plus, it's not that far away from home.
