Can anyone recommend any good campsites around thetford? i thinking of riding down and spending a few days in a tent while exploring the forest trails. So far all the sites ive found seem to be quite far away from the riding but thats the marked trails.

How far are you coming from? The "trails" can be all done in a day.

I was under the impression there was quite a bit of unmarked stuff too.

You'd struggle to fill 'a few days' riding round Thetford to be honest.
We ride there most weeks and you can blast round all the best bits in the main bit of the forest in an afternoon.
If you are coming down anyway for other reasons and wanted to get some riding in then you'll be OK but if you are going just to ride for 3 days, you might be a bit disappointed.

Okay thanks, stumpy i just wanted a couple of days away on the extra cheap and thetford is a few hours away on the bike, so 3 days will be too much.

I've stayed here: http://www.moatfarm-cp.co.uk/1115.html a few times. It's nice and friendly and quiet.

To be honest, for a couple of days away with a combination of chilling/riding you'd probably do OK.
I just didn't want you to get the impression that it would be like going to perhaps a large Welsh trail centre with 3 different trails or whatever.

If you could find a campsite close by, it would be a nice, relaxing trip to go for a few hrs riding, back to the campsite for some grub & a beer, read a book, blah blah blah.

Problem with that is that I have tried to look for campsites close to Thetford to go to with the girlfriend, but have struggled.
There is one & if you google for it, you should find it. I think it's a Forestry Commission site, and is very basic.
