I don't have any pics of them on a bike, because they don't fit in any bikes I own....

After making the momentous decision to knock mountain biking on the head, I have a Ritchey Road Logic on the way next week 😀

This is the one that convinced me. I shall be hoping to replicate something along these lines....

everyone - agreed! Think I might have gone for the grey Archetypes, better match and less shouty decals. I would like that bike.

jakd, it's nice isn't it? He was sending me ebay links to Spesh Rockhoppers, Meridas, and I was struggling to muster much enthusiasm. Then he sent me this, which was a good slice over budget. Turns out it was being sold by the brother of a some time drinking/riding acquaintance, got in touch and job jobbed. There's some all black Rebas in the post from ze germans, and OO OG backswept bars to help his poorly wrists.

Inspired by my post above - this is my "budget" attempt. Tyres are Vittoria Corsa G+ (Graphene jobbies)
Apologies for the crap phone pic but I couldn't find batteries for the camera...

I saw this Pole Taiga and thought, it looks great. Are there any skinwall fat tyres out there?

my take- you can't put skinwalls on black rims if you're after that retro classy look. Tyres went all-black long before rims did. And Mavic's hard anodised rims of yore don't count, because the ano wore off the brake track.

Ahem, yes, not quite finished 🙂

It's not retro or classy, but I actually think skinwalls look really good with deep carbon rims.

Skinwall lovers.

I am building a new bike and am looking for some lovely 30 or 32mm ideally skinwall road tyres. no need to be completely slick. I am flexible.

I would rather not be spending £50 and end if I can help it.

Any recommendations?

Panaracer pasela come recommended, but only upto 28mm, cheaper though.

Compass tyres also get recommended a lot, but are a bit more spendy.

I ran out of ££ and just stuck Conti sport contacts on my bike, couldn't justify the skinwall tax.

Panaracer pasela go up to 38 or 40..I have the 32, but there's variations PT, tour guard etc.
They're comfortable but not quick.

Paselas or Challenge Strada Biancas would be my choice.

Compass are too spendy and come with too many stories of fragility for me.

My Stradas are doing very well. A few knicks from flints, and one had a delayed puncture the other day, but the flints around here would shred almost anything so I'm pretty happy overall.

They roll better and handle better than anything else of that ilk. In a skinwall ilk, that is!
