Route is here. Although given the weather forecast we may alter it, depending upon conditions on the day.

Plenty of parking on the access road to the south west and in the surrounding areas generally.

We are aiming to be there for 9.30 and looking to be riding for no later than 10am. If anyone needs my mobile number, email me.

See you Sunday.

Your bod is a templer is it? I was wondering about the cafe too...

Anyway, to confirm, it looks like 4 from the Darwen Massive - me, Milemuncher, footstomper and Dave the Builder.

xherbivorex, even if I was stunningly fit I wouldnt get off on 'dominating' other riders. Social rides are for socialising not being a mute climbing idiot who shows off.

well given my utter lack of fitness and my utter disregard for having a bike better suited to riding uphills, i imagine i'll be pushing up a substantial amount of any climbs that need doing!
but yeah, i may try to persuade my mate to come along too (on his kona stinky!) so i'm not the only idiot on a big bouncy bike...

xherbivorex, there is a fair bit of climbing on this ride mate.... 4000' worth to be exact. All on a pretty steady gradient though.

And for the locals, we'll probably have a slight edit on the route and miss out the climb up from Coal pit road as its was quite boggy last night. Go straight up the mast road.

xherbivorex you'll be fine. I dont push but I do grind in the grannie ring at at walking pace. I know this as its the same pace that I walk at. There are loads of turn off points along the ride as well and depending how battered I get on Sat night I'll be considering them as well!

If your cutting the coal pit rd bit may I suggest adding this instead? A bit of downhill, I know its a sharp climb back up but only a minor detour.

Yeah I erm changed my mind, coz...
A, it's your ride I didn't wanna interfere
B, Part of the fun of going riding with other people is someone else guides/navigates
C, not even sure if I'm going to be on the ride.
It was too late to edit my post so I just deleted the image.

Can i just say any detour I take will be
1. Shorter
2. Easier
3. Quicker

and almost definetly involve the pub or cakes

D0nk but theres nowt wrong with an added suggestion. Even if you ride somewhere for years someone else may come along and show you something cheeky/new. Part of the fun, its like on the North Downs, every group of riders has different names for the same bits but I bet different groups know parts that the others don't.
