Apparently he’s been a naughty boy in some woods just outside Welshpool building trails on footpaths

Montague Steps may be better on Lundy. I have watched a team get in a muddle as they didn't clear the start quickly enough on The Devil's Slide and the tide made a birds nest of the ropes.

I enjoyed the making of video. So it wasn't 40 degrees was it. They show it measured 50 and steeper else where. They also show that objects will slide down the slab. So lots of things said earlier in the thread aren't quite true

But still looking forward to seeing the video of downhillers doing it much faster 😉

Surprised by the drones used for the filming - a sort of heavily adapted racing drone style thing rather than a massive pro DJI Inspire type thing I was expecting. There were also a few places where the shadow of the drone was visible on the rock but it wasn't there in the final cut - some clever editing I guess. Also his same audio was used in places but in the making of you can hear the drones in the background but not in the final. All very clever.

As ever the making video is almost as good watching as the final edit.

I think I preferred the making of video. It captured the steepness better and the rest of the story was interesting. Interesting lack of bloopers, too. Most of his videos he makes dozens of attempts before finally nailing it on the big tricks. Some real jeopardy here making him ride within his limits so just a couple of minor slips.

I’ll hold my hands up and will say I wasn’t that impressed with the original vid (compared to his others) however, now I’ve seen the making of? It’s blimmin impressive! You really get a sense of how steep it is

Great video but have to agree with someone who said the drone footage is too swoopy - actually distracts from the riding/scenery fairly quickly and smacks of 'just because you can etc...'

Still amazing though.

I thought that too. I was initially very impressed because I was imagining some gigantic OctoCopter thing but when I saw the Making Of... with the tiny little DJI (Mavics were they?) the swoopy drone footage made much more sense. It was still quite distracting though, I guess they were trying to get some sort of vertigo sensation deliberately.

Doing it from a helicopter with an IMAX camera would have been amazing. A view from miles out zooming in and in and in.

Totally agree that The Making Ng Of was a better video.

I too found the drone footage to be too swoopy, it detracted from what was otherwise an enjoyable video. I do think I found that the making of video gave a better impression of how steep and challenging the riding was, though.

Including my suggestion of the possibility of a safety rope for that necky step / ledge at 3:40 in the original, because there was no wider shot.

There was a wider shot.

DJI (Mavics were they?)

Nope - DIY jobbies by the look of it. Or expertly assembled mutant racing drone like machines.

Very noticeable in the making-of, I wouldn't be surprised if drone shadows were CGI edited out post production rather than throw away awesome shots, I'm sure a couple were the same angle.

Just watched it, I usually say I prefered when they used more obscure music but that was spot on for this one. Let's go! Don't know where we're going! Amazing dronework too- I get why people say it was too swoopy to show off the riding, but, sometimes that's the tradeoff- do you want to see the riding best or do you want a prettier video. Same as long vs short shots. We probably want to see more of the bike but I reckon most people will prefer the more dynamic shots.

But then for us there's the Making Of and yeah I probably preferred that. It really drove home the madness. But I appreciate both in different ways.

You know when half the production team genuinely don't want to watch him that its pretty full on.
